There was something wrong. Biff wasn’t sure what it was but it started soon after he got paired with Ronald Hyde. He didn’t know much about Ronald, he was just unremarkable in some way. That had made him angry. Didn’t he want to be someone? Stand out in some way.
Biff had started jogging first. The first few bells were easy but the sense of uneasiness got stronger. He glanced over to the next lane. A girl named Karyn something. His girlfriend Sarah hated her for some reason. Biff didn’t get why. She stood out. More than cookie-cutter Sarah. He said this because he had run into her at an airsoft event even once.
Biff didn’t like airsoft but it was a team-building exercise. Good for the team. He was the head of the football team after all. He promised Karyn he wouldn’t tell anyone. She was scared of the truth getting out for some reason. He respected her after that. Kept the secret. The point was that it was something. More than Sarah or this Ronald kid had.
The jogging was getting harder. Harder than it should be. His pecs, which he was quite proud of felt swollen. Hair tickled his neck. His hips tingled. Something was going on and he tried to ignore it.
Finally, he failed. At 55. Normally he could get 75. He panted, his swollen pecs pressing into the school-provided shirt. Ronald handed him the clipboard, scanning his features. The action made Biff feel strange. Maybe this Ronald kid wasn’t too bad.
He slumped to the floor feeling more tired than he should. He brushed some hair out of his eyes. SOMETHING WAS WRONG. And started recording for his partner Ronald.
