Heading out of the precinct holding hands, Karyn and Zoe made a beeline for Zoe's Porsche, eager to get home. Karyn was the head of the entire Lakeview Police Force, so she generally didn't have to work late unless there was a crisis, and thankfully Lakeview was a fairly safe city. Today though, one of her sergeant's was expecting a hatching, so she'd volunteered to cover for him; there was a reason Chief Black was almost universally beloved by her subordinates. As they pulled out of the station's parking lot, Zoe asked, "anything exciting happen today, sweetie?"
Karyn stretched a bit, letting herself relax as she replied, "no, everything was pretty quiet. Devries was in earlier requesting approval for another of those wacky protests of hers. So I guess avoid Theo Guest Park next Saturday. I keep wondering when she's gonna realize no one else is coming to those."
Zoe snorted, "Goddess, I can't believe I used to be friends with her Before. Sorry you had to deal with her, sweetheart."
Karyn waved her off, "I'm the boss, babe, Officer Reynolds handled her, I just heard her usual ranting and raving from the office." She playfully gave her wife a little shove, but not enough to distract her while she was driving, "and we were all kind of idiots Before, best not to worry about it."
"You're right," Zoe replied, "I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Well lucky for you," Karyn replied coyly, twirling her wedding ring, "you''l never have to find out."
Zoe laughed at that, "Goddess, you're such a goof. I'm glad there was nothing for my office at least; we're still pretty busy working on the prosecution for the Farber case."
Karyn sighed, "what in the world made that kid think it was a good idea to go and rob Jaina Duncan's house." The CEO of Duncan Technologies was a multimillionaire, of course she had top notch security, not to mention the fact she was a personal friend of the mayor and Steve's dad's employer. The high schooler clearly hadn't been thinking beyond the fact that Jaina had quite a lot of nice stuff he could pawn. It all made for a messy situation.
Zoe gave a little frown, "yeah, hopefully he'll just take the plea deal for community service. He's an idiot but he's also a kid, I'd hate for him to mess up his future over this." Zoe was fairly lenient, especially in crimes where no physical violence happened, but at the end of the day it was up to her to keep order. It made her a little glum as she arrived at the gate for their neighborhood, waiting for the sensor in her car to register and it to swing open.
Changing the subject to get her wife's mind off of the Farber boy, Karyn mentioned, "oh, the mayor called at lunch. She and your sister want to do dinner tomorrow night, just the four of us."
"She's your best friend and your sister in law, sweetie, you don't have to call her by her title," Zoe chided gently, guiding the car past their neighbors neatly maintained lawns, "but dinner sounds nice."
Karyn blushed slightly, "gah, sorry, I'm still in work mode. I try to use proper titles around the station, though you have no idea how awkward it is saying things like 'the DA and I had a picnic last weekend,'"
"Sweetheart, I think the cat's out of the bag that we're married ever since you made out with me right in the middle of last year's holiday party," Zoe teased.
Karyn smiled, it had been a very memorable party, then bit her lower lip before asking, "hey, did you already eat before you came to pick me up?"
Zoe shook her head as she parked the car, "no and I'm famished. The first thing I want to do is march in there and chow down on some of that salmon risotto in the fridge."
"You sure that's the first thing you want to eat?" Karyn asked seductively while unbuttoning the buttons on her uniform to reveal the red lacy underwear currently supporting her mammoth mammaries, drawing in Zoe's eyes like magnets and making the respected lawyer drool just a little bit. The two women were in the house and upstairs in the bedroom before the garage door finished closing.
