"Ugh, great. Thanks a lot, Myka. Now I'm probably going to get detention for this," Karyn said, sourly. She then hurried her pace towards the school.
"Why is it my fault?" Myka asked, though, thanks to the wish she had made that morning, it was sort of her fault that Karyn wasn't in class, having been swept up into the life-changing phenomenon caused by the wishing stone. Myka hurried after her, then into the school herself, where they both got an earful by the teacher who had caught them skipping class.
"Now, do you have an explanation?" Nadine Ferguson asked them, noting that they looked like they'd been running, but neither of them were dressed for it.
"It was an emergency...but we're really late for class right now," Myka said. "I promise it won't happen again..."
"Well, neither of you have skipped class before, so no detention. But I'll be writing a note you and your parents will have to sign and return to the principal," Nadine said, firmly. "And next time, it is going on your record."
"Thank you, Miss Ferguson," Karyn said.
"Now, get to class," she said, firmly. Nadine was creeping into her thirties, and her skirt and dress had started to shift into a suit...although still a female one at this time.
The two girls hurried off, with Myka following Karyn...partly because she had absolutely no idea which class was hers. "I woke up this morning with an older brother and an older sister," she told Karyn. "And now...everything is getting more different every minute. I need you to promise you'll believe me if more things change..." If people started to pick up traits from the people they took clothes from...Karyn could end up not remembering any of this. On the other hand, Gena wasn't Zoe, so it wasn't certain what would happen to Karyn.
