It has been 3 weeks since the medallion was stolen and Nick was having a bad day. He had just gotten off the phone with the police telling him that there were no leads on the robbery. The fingerprints did not match anyone except Nick and Megan, there was no video footage in the apartment feeds and none of the neighbors heard anything. The station was going to keep digging, but Nick was told not to get his hopes up. On top of that, his boss fired one of his colleagues, so he had to do more work. When he got home, he felt like crying. Megan was supportive and tried to put on a brave face with the news, which Nick appreciated.
Megan's work was going fine except when she had to talk. After a few days she found a voice modifier and made it sound close to her old voice. Her group went out for drinks once, which she had to decline for herself to go, but she said "Nick" would come in her place. She enjoyed going to see her work friends, but it was very odd how differently she was perceived. Her friends were kind to her, but weren't as open. The guys looked her in the eyes and didn't interrupt her. Just about everyone hoped "Megan" would get better soon, which caused her to laugh as she was actually there. It was also heartwarming to hear how much her peers told "Nick" how much they enjoyed working with Megan and how good she was at marketing.
After the call from the police, Nick and Megan packed up any of her clothing that didn't fit Nick's curves, or that meant something to Megan, and they dropped them off for donation. They swung by a thrift store for some more pants for Nick. On their way back home, the conversation changed from clothes to other matters.
"Look, I'm just saying that we need to get you an ID if we want to be able to do certain things together, " said Nick.
"I'm agreeing with you babe, since my ID isn't going to help anymore. What I'm saying is that my body is more like your original one, so you should get the new ID," replied Megan
"That's bullshit. We both know I am the original Nick and I know my past better than you do. I already have my ID, it's you that need the new ID, " countered Nick. The argument lasted until they got home, where Megan said she was willing to get an ID, but had no idea where to get one. Nick had documents for himself, not some twin brother. They settled on getting a fake driver's license for Peter from the guy that gave them fake IDs in college. They picked it up 2 days later, and since a lot of the data was the same, the ID actually looked pretty good. They celebrated by going out to drink, with both IDs passing inspection to get them into the bar. After a few drinks each, and a not well played pool game, they stumbled home. On the way up the stairs, Megan grabbed Nick's butt. He swatted it away.
"Hey, I can't help it. I'm a horny drunk, you know that hon, " said Megan
"Don't do that, it's not as cute as you think, " Nick responded.
"You didn't seem to mind 3 weeks ago, sweetie." countered Megan
"That's because 3 weeks ago, it wasn't my hand grabbing my butt. It was a novel thing that was supposed to stop after 12 hours, but now it has been almost 4 weeks and I'm stuck trying to hold hands with myself, not the beautiful woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with!" cried Nick through tears. Nick focusing on opening the door after his outburst and went to the bedroom, only to come out and brush his teeth while rubbing his tummy. Megan went to the guest room, figuring Nick needed a little space.
