I was going to launch into an tirade, but Zoe had already ended the call, which did nothing to improve my increasingly sour mood. Knowing it was pointless to call again, since it was clear that Zoe didn't want to talk to me, I reached for my bag since I wanted to get out of my leotard. Especially since I was genuinely afraid that Zoe would do something stupid, or some leftover magic would change me for the worse. I opened the bag, and was relieved for a few seconds to see the clothes that I worn into the studio, then I frowned since the clothes were still too revealing and pink for my liking. Still, it was better than the leotard, so I changed back into my pink top and skirt. Once changed, I headed back to Emily, Sarah, and of course Marie. My cousin seemed a little disappointed to see my out of my leotard, but I didn't care too much about that. All I wanted was to get home.
"Marie won't be happy" Emily warned as she eyed me.
"I talked to mom.." I said.
"So what did she say?" both girls asked.
"She was hesitant to talk" I said, True enough, but not in the way they thought. Both Sarah and Emily remained quiet, as if they were thinking, which suited me. After fifteen minutes of silence, Marie's class finished, and she immediately rushed to me. Quickly, she wrapped her arms around me, and asked, "How do you think I went, Annie?"
"Good. I liked seeing you dance" I said, actually meaning it. I thought it extremely funny to see Marie as a ballerina, considering the two previous versions of her.
"Why did you go? I liked that we were matching" Marie asked, obviously disappointed.
"I needed to talk to mom" I said. "Besides, where is yours?"
"She has gone to the mall for something. She will pick us up soon" Marie said.
"Oh.." I said. A part of me wondered if this would be Zoe's exit strategy. Make me Linda's kid again. albeit a girl. It was an obvious solution to her age problem since it would sever her link. A few minutes later, my mom turned aunt arrived and she was holding a couple of bags. She eyed my outfit, and gave a slight smirk. Initially I was concerned she knew, but quickly realized was was comparing me to Zoe. My ditzy pink clothes to Zoe's goth attire.
"Marie. Joanna. Did you girls enjoy your class?"
"Yes mommy" Marie replied., though I gave a slight nod.
"That nice. Get changed, sweetie. We're joining your aunt soon" Linda announced as Marie, as well as Linda rushed for the changerooms. A couple of minutes later, both reappeared, and I giggled, since Linda had put Marie into some super girly, pink dress. I was glad it wasn't me. Both Sarah and Emily, who was getting up to leave seemed bemused too.
"You look nice, princess" I said. "So, aunt Lina. What is in the other bag?"
"Yours"
"What!?" I was appalled, especially since a departing Sarah and Emily thought it was even funnier.
"Well, a more adult version" Linda said. "Marie said was wanted to match you"
"Great" I muttered under my breath as i took the bag.
