My bemusement towards Marie didn't last too long since I quickly realized it could had been me. Whether it was the stone, or any lingering magic from her initial transformation, or even my own, I didn't know, but it extremely unsetting to see Marie act so girlish. It was apparent that Marie had no recollection that she had been a teen, or a boy, Worse, Emily, and much to my shocked disgust, Sarah.
"Sure you're good, Anna? You look pale" Emily asked, concerned as she sat next to me.
"I'm good" I lied as Marie saw me, waved and gave us a perfect ballet pose. Frowning slightly, I turned towards the other two. This version of Sarah was definitely not the one I knew and despised. This version was almost likeable. "Why are you here, Sarah? I thought you would had gone to the mall with your friends."
"I need to ask you something, Anna" Sarah said.
"What?" I replied, instantly nervous.
"I don't get you St Mary girls. You don't have a team yet you do it for sports class."
"Huh?"
"You're such a ditz, Anna. Cheer class" Emily said. "So, what do you want to know, Sar?"
"I heard your mom wants someone to help start one up. I want it" Sarah said.
"Why? We're the the opposition" I said, stunned. I didn't know which was more surprising. Sarah being helpful, or that 'mom' was pushing for cheerleading.
"Not against me. Besides, it looks good for college" Sarah grinned.
Of course she would.. And 'mom' would be the one pushing me into cheer hell. I really hated my new life. "I don't think i want to" I said.
"What?! You're the perfect flyer" Emily said in shocked despair, but Sarah flashed a knowing grin.
"Anna. I'd feel the same if I was in an all girl school, but trust me, you'll be noticed" Sarah said with a slight wink. I gulped, since I got it instantly. She thought I didn't want to cheer because of the lack of boys. That i was some boy crazy ditz. Oh God no...
"I don't.." I protested. Suddenly watching Marie didn't look so bad. Again she noticed us, and gave another wave.
"Sure, you don't" Emily teased.
"I don't get why we had the earlier class" I said, changing the subject. Could this be a weird thing induced by the stone? Or worse, invert all our ages to make it make more sense. Seeing Sarah as a little girl would be funny, but not at my expense.
"Anna, you ditz" Emily said, shaking her head. "They're getting practice for our recital."
"Oh... I need to make a call" I said. Things were getting out of hand, and I wanted answers. I got up, and headed out to make my call.
"How is things?" Zoe said with mock sweetness.
"Knock it off, 'mom'. Did you do any of this?" I growled.
"Do what? The bitch driving you crazy, yet?" Zoe demanded.
"I don't know. Like turning me into a fucking ballerina who has just spent to the last fifteen minutes being buddy with Sarah McMillian who wants to help with a cheer squad YOU set up, or turning my bitchy teen 'cousin' Marie into the sweetest little girl" i snapped sarcastically.
"WHAT?!"
