I opened my wardrobe and stared at the various dresses that were hanging up. Sarah was right; the magic had turned me into a very girly girl, and I sort of proved it by picking the fanciest, puffiest and laciest one there was. Sarah eyed me, with a mixture or bemusement, and annoyance.
"When I said 'get dressed', I didn't intent it literally. You do realize that is not some kind of play dress?" she said. That was true; the dress i selected was more suitable for weddings and other formal events. It even came with a sealed bag, containing some accessories, like ultra white tights, some shoes, some earrings and elbow gloves.
"Of course I do, and you're such a liar. Tomboy or not, you're delighted in seeing me do all these girly things. Now, are you going to leave me in peace while I change?" I snapped.
"No. If you insist on dressing like that, I'm going make sure you're doing it properly. We're both girls, Anna."
I scowled, seeing that Sarah was not going to leave me alone. Embarrassed, I got out of my leotard and into my new clothes, which Sarah helped to secure. Once dressed, I rushed off, much to her frustration. "Joanna! Get back here!" I ignored her, and rushed off to see mom. She was, to my surprise, in the process of getting dressed herself, and evidently, had just put on her own dress, a little black one. She was admiring herself in the mirror, seemingly pleased, when she noticed me.
"Joanna Amber Donaldson! What are you wearing?" mom snapped.
"What are you wearing? Black again?" I could clearly remember mom's gothic past. "You look so pretty, mom. This style suits you." Unlike the previous time I saw her in black, before all the transformations, mom looked glowing. Not like the 'corpse; as Aunt Linda had crudely said.
Mom smiled slightly. "Thank you. I can still work black, but you're still in trouble. You're not going out tonight, so get out of that dress before you ruin it. Who's idea was it for you wear that? Yours, or did your sister put you up to it?"
"Going out? Are you, mom?"
"I am. I've got a date, if you must know" mom said as Sarah rushed in. She still had a brush in hand, determined to make me 'presentable'. She turned from me, to mom, slightly shocked. "Wish those goth freaks could see you now, and learn from it, mom" she spat out,
"What was that?" mom demanded rhetorically.
"You heard.. never mind.. Why are you dressed like that, mom?"
"I have a date, and I need to get ready. You, are going get babysat, and you, both of you are going to behave. Understood my little princesses?"
"Babysat? By who? I don't need a sitter, and don't call me princess" Sarah said, disgusted.
"You do now: mom said, as someone rung the doorbell. I was horrified with the idea of being babysat, and worried it was going to be someone I knew. Especially one of Sarah's former cheerleaders. I opened the door, and my horror turned to disgust, when I saw the pretty teenaged girl with a very vacant look on her face, though she had enough cognition to recognize, and be amused by me. It was Karyn.
