"I'm not joking, mom. Sarah must be nine, maybe ten now. Did you have anything to do with this?" I asked
"Why would I want to make things harder for me?" Zoe asked.
"Accidents happen, mom. Plus, you have the stone hidden somewhere" I replied.
"What are you suggesting?" Zoe asked in an icy tone. i gulped inadvertently; I knew I had to choose my words carefully.
"You was kind of pissed off with both of us. You could have done something completely by accident. I know you feel like you're... umm..."
"Feel what?"
"Umm, kind of old" I squeaked.
"Joanna Amber Donaldson! How dare you!"
"We can throw insults at each other.. and from Sarah, later, mom. Meanwhile, what can I do?"
"Make sure Sarah is comfortable, and call me if I need to make a stop. I'll see you soon, sweetie" Zoe said, ending the call.
I felt like throwing the phone down. I knew that Zoe knew I hated being called that, plus the stop really meant she was willing to get new clothes for Sarah, a luxury that was not offered to me. I stared down angrily at my skirt, and lifted it to confirm what i had already felt; that I was physically almost back to being Anna. New clothes could had shifted my path. Angrily, i stormed upstairs, for my room, where I found Sarah sitting on my bed. I was surprised she was there, especially since my room had not aged with me. it was still the same pink, over the top girly little girl room that I had for the last couple of days. A few things had being tossed into the middle of the room, notably my ballet leotard, a spare school uniform, and a couple of dresses
"What's wrong with you? You look like you're going to kill someone?" Sarah asked.
"Stupid mom. She's willing to buy you something new, but not me! She could had saved me, but no! She decided to force me into your clothes. Now I'm one tug away from being Joanna for good" I complained, earning a smirk from my reluctant sister. "Why are you here?"
"I thought something might fit me better" Sarah said evenly.
"Afraid of your room?" Thinking it would be alien?" I asked.
"No!" Sarah snapped, but I could tell she was partly lying. "I'm not afraid, sis. Everything is too big."
"So trashing my room would help?" I asked. I had very mixed feelings about it. "I've got an idea. Wait in your room. I don't want to find you starting to fit in this room" I said, earing a somewhat frightened shriek from Sarah. She leapt off my bed, and started looking at herself, almost afraid she would regress in age to fit in at any moment. I smiled slightly, as I headed for the attic. I didn't know if there would be something, but it would be worth the shot. I quickly saw a few cases, each marked with our names. I opened the one marked 'Zoe' and smiled grimly, seeing one of Zoe's old goth clothes from when she was ten. Perfect. I was going to grab that, when i saw what was supposedly my own. Curious, I opened it, and grinned even more. Sarah would be pissed...
"Good news, Sarah. I found something in the attic" I announced.
"What?"
"First, I found one of mom's old goth dresses" I announced.
"What? No! No fucking way! I'm not dressing like one of those freaks" Sarah protested, instantly turning pale from fright. Privately, I thought see was close to pulling off the look; all see needed was a bit of black lipstick, talons and to ditch the blond hair. I hoped she would regain some color before mom got home....
"Relax, Sarah. I'm not going to do that to you. Mom initially wanted to do that to me, when I first changed, and unlike you, I actually like her. No, I found a costume from when I was supposedly ten. And as Anna. Quite literally"
Sarah had brightened but instantly paled again at the suggestion of my old clothes. "Eww. Not happening."
"Would you prefer to dress like mom? It'll go with the pale, pissed off expression you've got. Shall I get those instead?" I smirked as Sarah grabbed my old clothes and started to put them on. Once dressed, she glared at me.
"I hate you! You and our stupid mom and your stupid Halloween costume, and my stupid split personality" Sarah growled.
