“I wish for Option two” he whispered, he felt Ruby’s body tense, then relax. She pushed away from him, tears streaming freely down her face.
“Jon… I…” she began.
“It’s ok,” Jon replied sweetly, “I gave it a lot of thought, but you’re right, everyone is a lot happier now, and I wouldn’t be able to live with myself knowing I’d sentenced you to death” he added.
“I don’t know what to say” she said happily. Jon could feel a sense of affection towards her, pride in doing something that brought her so much joy.
“You don’t have to say anything” he said with a smile, “just promise me something”
“Anything” Ruby said.
“Just make sure everyone stays happy and healthy. Including you!” Jon replied.
“Oh I will” Ruby said, a happy gleam in her eye, “I know some of you have a lost a few years, so I can make it so that you end up a little younger, and you don’t age as fast. Buddy and Pixie will be fine too, they’ll break a few records for dog years” she added with a wink.
“Good to know” Jon chuckled, “so…. I guess this is goodbye?” He added a little sadly.
“Not for long,” Ruby replied mirroring his feeling “I’ll see you soon Jon, or I guess I should start calling you Mom?” She added with a small laugh. She stepped forward and embraced him in another tight hug, which Jon returned, wrapping one arm around her waist, and resting the other hand on the back of her head.
“Thank you” she whispered as she began to glow. Suddenly her whole body erupted into a bright flash, and she was gone, leaving Jon stood alone. He pulled his arms around himself for a moment. Feeling his new breasts resting atop them, reminding him of the life he had now chosen for himself and everybody else. Something else finally clicked into place.
“How am I going to be her mother?” He muttered to himself, “unless….” He trailed off as the realisation of what was to come dawned on him.
“You joining us Lorn?” He heard Shaun call from the grill. He took a deep breath in, allowing himself a moment to say goodbye to Jon Gibson. Lorna Madison breathed out slowly before turning to face her husband.
“Coming!” She called as she strode back to where Lara had just finished pouring another glass of wine.
