Lucy came out of the bathroom wearing just a pair of boxers. "And we're going to have a nice afternoon. Laura and I used to be good friends...and quite frankly, I could use someone right now."
"Jon and I aren't really..friends," Sarah said. "But...he's going through a lot right now...just like Biff...and you for that matter."
"Well, you both have the organs of mature women...maybe you have more in common than you think," Lucy said.
Sarah nodded. The idea of not being polite to Jon just seemed so...immature to her. She finished getting dressed and studied herself in the mirror.
Lucy came up behind her and wrapped her arms around Sarah's waist. Her shoulders and limbs had broadened considerably, and Sarah felt an odd feeling of comfort at the gesture.
At the Gibson house, meanwhile, a similar scene was playing out in the master bedroom. Jon held up one of Laura's bathing suits to his chest. "Jon...it looks fine. You think the McMillans will judge you? We're all in the same boat."
He sighed. "Sarah isn't exactly my best friend. But, I suppose she's extending an olive branch. And Karyn seems so excited about the pool..."
"You think we should build one?" Laura asked. "I mean, I've always wanted that...or maybe a hot tub."
"It's a bit expensive, and besides...I'm not sure we have the space in the backyard," Jon said.
"Well, if we build it ourselves, the cost isn't as bad," she said.
"But we just redid the basement..."
"I'm not saying right now, but can't you imagine relaxing in a hot tub after a long day?" Laura said.
He turned, and looked up at her. Laura started to lean down and...There was a knock at the door and the moment was lost.
"Who is it?"
"Are you almost ready?" Zoe's voice called. "You said you'd drop us off on the way."
"Be ready in a few minutes, "Jon called. Was Laura about to kiss me? He pondered.
