Over at the mall, the others had just arrived and were walking through the main entrance together.
“I’ll see you both later then. Text me when you’re done” Simon said cheerily as he headed off on his own. Zoe looked around and spotted her usual crowd waiting on bench by the central fountain. There was Athena, Trevor Blake, and Zelda Whitfield, all deep in conversation.
“Hey guys” she said as she walked over, Mikey close behind. Athena gave her a smile, but Trevor and Zelda just nodded.
“Hey Zo” Athena said cheerily, “I got your message, and I was just filling the guys in.”
“So none of your old stuff fits?” Zelda asked, looking her up and down. Zoe shrugged and waved her hand down herself.
“Clearly” she said.
“Loving the shirt Mikey” Trevor said. Mikey just shrugged and stared at the floor
“Whatever,” he grumbled.
“So what do want to do?” Athena asked.
“I wanted to go and find something more to my taste” Zoe replied.
“Clothes shopping?” Trevor rolled his eyes, “we were thinking of heading to Lovecrafts Occult” he added. Mikey’s eyes lit up.
“Ooh yeah, I’d like to go there” he said, smiling for the first time that day.
“Tell you what, you guys head there, and me and Zoe will catch up with you later” Athena offered. Trevor and Zelda looked at each other and shrugged.
“Sound fair” Zelda replied, “you can tag along if you want” she added to Mikey.
“You sure you don’t mind?” Zoe asked.
“Nah, it’ll be fine” Zelda said, jerking her head to indicate Mikey should follow them. The three of them walked off into cried, leaving Zoe and Athena alone.
“You could have gone with them you know” Zoe said as they began walking in the opposite direction.
“And leave my best girl on her own?” Athena grinned, “I don’t think so”. Zoe didn’t want to admit it, but she felt happy Athena was sticking with her.
“So.. tell me everything!” Athena pressed as they walked on.
“Not much more to tell, I’ve got Jon’s nipples now, and none of my clothes fit. We had the doctor round checking everything and asking us a few questions” Zoe replied as they stopped outside a Forbidden Planet.
“In here?” Athena asked.
“Yeah, they’ve got some pretty good stuff” Zoe replied with a shrug as they headed in.
“So anything else?” Athena continued.
“Nothing with me, but I did here Jon and Mom talking about feeling certain attractions. I was worried I’d start feeling things for Sim…Dad” Zoe replied.
“But your not?” Athena asked, sounding a little worried.
“Not in that way” Zoe shrugged again as they reached a shelf of t-shirts, “guess it’s something to do with something Dr Grant said. We seem to be turning into a mix of two people, so either Jon didn’t like Karyn in that way, or I’ve lucked out and not got that part?” She said as she began browsing the clothing. She heard Athena breath a sigh of relief, and she looked over.
“Good to hear” she said with a grin, “I’d hate to have to fight your dad for your affection” she added. Zoe blinked in surprise.
“Oh don’t look so shocked” Athena winked, “I told you the other day, I’ve always had a thing for you. Can’t believe it took you growing a dick for me to really realise it” she added, sticking her tongue out. The comment caused one the other customers to look over in surprise. Zoe blushed and stared at the floor.
“Athena!” She whispered with a smile. She always loved how upfront her friend was, and it kinda made her realise that maybe she had a thing for her too. Then she had a thought that made her heart drop.
“But what if I’m not goth by the end of all of this, and I can’t be changed back?” She asked quietly. Athena sighed and looked thoughtful for a moment. Zoe’s heart sped up, this is what she was dreading now. Athena reached over and grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her into a deep kiss.
“I’d choose any version of you any day!” She grinned once they released. Zoe smiled, feeling a strange warmth inside.
“So does that mean we’re a thing then?” She asked.
“Well I don’t let just anyone fuck me like you do!” Athena grinned, causing Zoe to blush under another angry glare from her fellow customer.
