Jon and Kevin went their seperate ways after they arrived at Kevin's (formerly Karyn's) house. There were no further words, aside from Jon's asking "Are you going to be all right?".

"I think so." Kevin replied. "I'll be with you the next day. But let's not use the wishing rock again until we've got a really good reason to, okay?"

Jon nodded. "You just let me know, and I'll bring it."

With that, Kevin turned and walked through the front door of his house.

Jon stood there for a moment. Karyn ... Kevin's ... taking this pretty well, all things considered., he thought to himself. Does this mean anything?

Anyway, he decided that Kevin was right. There would be no more use of the wishing rock until they felt they needed it. It had already caused enough trouble. It was best that, for now, they get used to the new reality they found themselves in.

Kevin stepped inside, to be greeted by his mother. "Hi, Kevin." his mother said. "You'd better get out of those clothes. You look ridiculous in them. And don't be making any more crazy bets."

"Okay, Mom." he said, surprising himself with how quick he was to head up to his room.

Once in his room, he took a good look around. All the feminine accessories, the makeup table, and jewelry case, were gone. Karyn's bookshelf still displayed signs of 'geeky' interests, as such titles as the Lord and the Rings and Harry Potter books were still present. But romance novels were replaced with non fiction about marathon runners and track and field stars, and a few noir detective novels and Westerns.

As Kevin undressed himself from the girl's clothes, he thought about all that had happened. Great. I'm probably stuck as a guy thanks to that stupid wishing rock, and the first thing that happens is some clown laughing at me. I don't even know why, but I'd like to see him on the receiving end of an embarrassment.

And yet, it's crazy. The whole bet thing never happened. It's just a cover story the rock came up with to explain everything and make the world still look sane.

Kevin didn't want to keep thinking about the rock. But he couldn't help it. It had changed his whole world, with just a few wishes. And now he had to deal with the consequences.

He still wanted to get even with Steve Farber, even if he didn't remember the bets.

He spent the rest of the day trying to piece together information about Kevin's life. He hoped he'd have enough information to get by for a while.

Jon and Kevin met on the way to school the next morning. "Jon, I think I'm going to make another bet with Steve."

"Another?" Jon asked.

"Yes, I know I never made one, but as far as this reality's concerned, I made two of them already, and lost both of them." Kevin said. "But this time, I intend to win, no matter what."

"You mean, you're going to cheat?" Jon asked.

"If it comes to that, maybe." Kevin replied.

The school day went fairly normally. Everyone else treated Kevin as if he'd always been Kevin, and no one remembered the girl named Karyn he'd been the day before. At lunch, Steve Farber approached them.

"Steve, I'd like to make another bet with you." Kevin told Steve.

"Oh, really?" Steve said, with a smirk. "And what's the wager THIS time?"

Jon and Kevin turned to each other, trying to come up with ideas.
