"Jon?" Karyn asked. Karyn was standing in the hall. She had rushed off after Jon. Jon still didn't know about the Random Stone, as Karyn hadn't had the chance to tell him before Michelle showed up and ran off with it.
And now, Michelle had wished to be the richest girl in the world, not knowing that the wish would be granted to someone else. In this case, it was Jon, who had turned into a girl wearing expensive-looking clothes, and looking completely confused.
"Karyn?" Jon asked. "What happened? This doesn't make any sense!"
"I know." Karyn said. "It's not how the stone's supposed to work. But Michelle doesn't have the wishing stone we know. She has the Random Stone."
"What?"
"The Random Stone. Instead of granting wishes to the person who wished it, it grants it to some random person within 50 feet of it."
"That's insane!" Jon exclaimed. "Where did it come from? Where's the real wishing stone?"
Karyn decided Jon was a little too shaken up to continue the chase. And there was no time to explain what she had learned about the Random Stone. Michelle was getting away.
"Let me go after Michelle." Karyn said. "You stay here with Zoe and her friends. I'll get the stone back and explain everything."
"Wait. Who's Michelle?" Jon asked.
"Your younger sister." Karyn said, heading down the stairs.
Karyn rushed down the stairs, knowing Michelle had likely a head start on her. She hoped, however, that she would be able to catch up.
Jon's parents, meanwhile, having been made more athletic by Zoe's errant wish, were now doing their 5-mile jog.
Mark and Linda Gibson only wished that Zoe could be as athletic as they were. If she exercised some more instead of stuffing herself with junk food all the time, perhaps she would be able to lose some weight. They were, however, proud of their other two daughters Joanna and Michelle.
Both Joanna and Zoe had received inheritances from their grandfather. In Zoe's case, it was a strange box with a gift. In Joanna's case, it was a huge fortune. Apparently, on his last expedition, Joanna's grandfather had discovered some valuable treasures that were worth so much money that anyone who cashed them in would have more money than tech billionaire Nolan Mousse. And Linda's father - Joanna's grandfather - had bequeathed this fortune to Joanna, making her possibly the richest girl on the planet.
Michelle, meanwhile, was one of the prettiest and most popular girls at Lake Point High School.
"I wonder when Joanna's going to announce how she's going to split the wealth?" Mark Gibson asked.
"Give her time. She only just came into the money a few days ago." Linda replied. "She's a smart girl, and not too selfish. I'm sure that after we talk with her some more, she'll make a good decision."
Both of them were still unaware of the Random Stone, or how it had changed their lives greatly.
Meanwhile, Michelle was at the driveway. She heard noise from within the house, and knew she had to act fast.
