"I don't know," he whispered. "I don't feel like me." There was a long pause. "Why did that girl do this?"
He doesn't recognize me either, Nicole realized. "What's your name?"
"Jay," the boy said.
Nicole frowned. "Jay...Duncan? The tall thin kid? The one with the big glasses."
He nodded. "It's really hard to concentrate," he said. "I'm usually like Spock...in control of my emotions. But...they are all so powerful now...I can't describe them."
"Maybe it is your time of the month," Nicole suggested.
Jay looked scared. "I've never even been on a date and now I'm..." his hand began to shake again, which made the rest of his subtly shake.
"Well, that won't be a problem anymore, I think," Nicole said. "I wonder why you turned out so different." She vaguely remembered saying something about making up for injustice. She'd been mad and hadn't been thinking.
"I don't like it," he said. "How did you deal with this all the time?"
Nicole looked at him. "I didn't act like I was afraid of my own shadow," she said. "Now, would you go and see if Jon is almost ready to come out or not?"
Jay hurried into the locker room.
"Is there anyone around here who isn't complaining?" Nicole muttered.
