It was still early in the day. Nicole's wish had been made about halfway through first period. The school had a nine period day, of which the students were scheduled for eight. It allowed for more scheduling flexibility.
Fortunately or unfortunately, there weren't as many people, for that reason, in first period gym class as there could have been. When Nicole started raising her voice, the majority of the people in the room had turned to listen.
The girls on one side of the room were all cheerleaders, and had that in common. The other side was a boy's gym class, and thus had a mix of boys of all types. There were none of the football team there though. They had an early morning practice on the field outside.
Most of them were in shock, one way or the other, looking at each other, trying to make sense of it, and feeling rather odd. It was the boys who looked particularly lost, huddling in small groups, and the girls who seemed to be arguing among themselves about it.
None of them were quite sure what to do. And Coach had disappeared from the room. No one was sure if he'd vanished, or fled, but there were no authority figures to tell them what to do. Not that any authority figure would understand the problem.
