The brochure seemed to be for a beach resort on some tropical island, but he didn't recognize the name of the island. It seemed strange to see this sort of thing here, but he thought that maybe Mr. Fisk was planning a vacation. It looked nice enough... as he flipped it open, he saw photos of the resort spa, with a couple in robes like the one Nick was now wearing sipping tea, and another one with a very attractive woman in a bikini who had obviously just shed her robe and was just about to step into a hot tub. Just then, the stool, table, and indeed Nick as well began to vibrate. Focused on the Brochure picture, the distraction this caused was too much... Nick's own bathrobe flowed around him, and soon he was sitting on the stool in nothing but a bikini much like the one in the photo.
Looking over at Mr. Fisk, he saw the shop owner's eyes widen in surprise, and his hands fumbled momentarily with the tuning fork he was holding. Suddenly, the vibrations coursing through Nick got much stronger, and within moments the pain was excrutiating. Nick quickly passed out.
Nick awoke to consciousness with Mr. Fisk leaning over him, gently shaking him. He groaned, the feminine sound of it shaking Nick back to reality. "What happened? Did it work"
"I warned you it might be painful. You passed out from it, but seem OK otherwise. You seemed to have singularly bad timing, and I'm afraid that your little wardrobe change was somewhat distracting. I may have lost my concentration for a moment, but I don't yet know if this affected the tuning. I suggest you try it out."
Nick allowed the man to help him up, and saw that he was still wearing the red bikini. He thought again of the bathrobe. Nothing. He tried again, concentrating hard on the image. The bikini flowed and spread around him until it had reformed into the robe. Nick breathed a sigh of relief. As he relaxed, the robes flowed again, melting away until only the red bikini remained. Nick looked down in disbelief. "I wasn't thinking of it at all this time!"
Mr. Fisk had watched the whole thing. "Oh dear... I fear that the glove is now treating this outfit as its default setting, and now is tuned so low that only active concentration will keep it in any other form."
Nick's jaw dropped "You mean I'm stuck as a girl, always wearing a bikini? Can't you fix it? Just tune it again!"
The shopkeeper shook his head "After seeing the effects on you, I would not try this again for at least three to four days, or it could kill you. Even then, I still wouldn't recommend it, but in the meantime I can run a few tests and do some research on the matter. You can maintain less revealing clothes over the short term if you need to, as long as you don't relax or get too distracted."
