Mike walked into the men's room entrance, and upon rounding the corner, spotted Nikki, standing in front of the mirror. He backed out instantly, then peeked back in, but it seemed that the sound of running water had masked his footsteps enough that she didn't hear him. He saw her checking out her face in the mirror, muttering "I still can't believe it" while holding up a cheap-looking medallion. She was also wearing an ornate looking necklace that Mike would swear wasn't there before. He felt relieved that her absence was nothing more than a simple bathroom-break. He held off walking in on her in case she felt embarrassed at being caught in the men's room, so he stepped back, wondering how best to act naturally. He heard her voice, and for a moment thought that she had spotted him after all, when she said: "Oh well, so long Mike... see you in three years."
"Three years?! What? He had to go talk to her, and without hesitation dashed into the washroom. He saw Nikki, but something was odd "“ she was shimmering, as if out of focus, or like an old movie print. At the same time, she looked over at him in surprise, dropping the odd medallion in her hand. Shocked at the strange sight, Mike ran over to grab her hand. As he did, she came into sharp focus again, but the room went fuzzy and shimmery.
"No, wait!" she cried, grabbing towards the jewelry that had fallen onto the floor, but just then the room went black, and a moment later, they were standing in Nick's apartment, of all places.
"No, no no" she shouted, looking horrified. She looked up at Mike, stunned. "We have to go back!"
