Nick decided that it was best to leave now. He had done what he set out to do, and even if he wanted to stay, there was the whole timeline thing... better to just let Mike think that 'Nikki' had bailed.

Glancing over at the desk, Nick waited until he saw that Mike was focused on his dealings with the concierge, who seemed confused. without further delay, Nick started walking away.

Thinking that it would be best to be alone when using the amulet, Nick started heading towards the washrooms. Nick reached into his purse and felt two chains, and so pulled out both the medallion of Zulo and the Amulet of Time. Putting the amulet on, Nick saw that the ladies' room had a 'closed for cleaning' sign up, and after a moment's hesitation, carefully headed into the men's room.

Meanwhile, Mike had a plan. he decided to start off by trying to see if his luck held (this was Vegas, after all): he walked up, asking about the reservation for Terry Sullivan. The concierge looked it up, and smiled, assuring him that all was ready and that a Mr. Solznyck had arranged to cover all the charges. Pleased, Mike then switched gears: "excellent. I don't have too many bags." He waited as the concierge gave him his key card.

"Is there anything else, sir?" The man asked expectantly, somewhat confused.

"No, no, that's it for now." Then he said to the porter "you can take the bags up and wait, I'll be along in a two minutes." Mike figured that he would just go up, then see the other desk clerk in a few minutes and check into his room, but give that to Nikki. He figured that the real Mr. Sullivan wouldn't be a problem until tomorrow, which was hopefully enough time to find some other solution. He went over to tell Nikki about it, wondering how much he should admit.

He didn't see her anywhere... a quick look around the lobby revealed nothing... did she leave? He checked quickly outside, but the doorman assured him that he remembered the lady and did not see her leave. He rushed over to the bar and crashed into a waitress, spilling some shrimp cocktail over his shirt. He dismissed her apologies, intent on the patrons, but didn't see Nikki. "Damn..." he thought "I never should've let her out of my sight!" Not even an excuse, much less a goodbye!".

Crestfallen, he headed to the men's room to wash off the shrimp residue.
