When they got outside to the taxi pick-up zone, they saw that the line was disturbingly long. After a few minutes, it became clear that they would be waiting for at least another half-hour behind a long line of convention-goers. Mike got an idea. He had been impressed with Nikki's sponteneity, and so decided to show her some of his own. He told her, "Come on, I have an idea", and led her back into the terminal.
Leading Nikki to another door, he leaned in to her "While I was waiting for my departure, before you started talking to me, there was a guy named Sullivan at the bar. He got kind of drunk, and security told him he wouldn't be allowed to on his plane, so after he argued, they led him to the airport hotel to sleep it off." the paused to see the puzzled expression of the woman on his arm. "When we passed by here earlier, I saw a limo driver with a sign for 'T. Sullivan'. With any luck..." as he said this, they came around the corner to see a limo driver with the very same sign under his arm. He had pulled out a cellphone and was beginning to punch in numbers.
"Sullivan here!" Mike called out
The driver looked up. "Terry Sullivan?"
Mike nodded. The driver put away his phone "I was starting to wonder."
"Ya sorry, the airline lost the lady's bags, so we had to fill out some forms... you know how they are."
The driver nodded "ya... you make a mistake and they're all over 'ya, but if they make the mistake, you're the one who's gotta bust your ass to fix the problem. Come on, let's get you to the hotel."
He led them to the car, a black stretch SUV, and loaded Mike's bags inside, then was about to help Nick in, but caught Mike's look, and let Mike do it instead. The driver then climbed inside and started off.
In the back, Nick saw a large TV screen, nice leather seating, a bar and a small table. Nick and Mike both got comfortable, though Nick noticed that Mike could have sat on the other seat but chose the one that allowed him to sit closer. Still, Nick figured it would be best to just enjoy the ride, since he had the chance. Mike poured himself a drink, and before long, Nick also had a glass of wine in hand, and they picked up their easy conversation from the plane.
