Before they knew it, the plane began its final aproach, and they landed without a hitch. Nick expected no less, as he was aware from the old missing persons investigation that Mike had arrived safely, but had disappeared shortly after that.
Once they headed into the terminal, however, Nick became more alert, wondering what was going to happen to his friend, and determined to keep an eye on him. Mike, for his part, was happy to see that Nikki seemed eager to stay with him. He had been half-afraid she would bail the moment they arrived.
"We might as well share a cab to the strip... that's probably the best place for you to start looking for a room." Mike said helpfully. "I don't want to push you, but you can try at my hotel - maybe if I ask they'll be more helpful, since I have a suite booked for 10 days."
"Sure, that sounds great." Nick smiled weakly. He had no intention of staying... Megan's credit card wouldn't pass muster that long, and besides, whatever had happened to Mike had happened before he had checked in. No, getting him there would be enough to change events, and Nick didn't want to keep Mike strung along too much longer - he seemed to be getting very attached to 'Nikki'. Nevertheless, Nick took Mike's hand and followed him out of the arrival gate.
