She approaches Mike

She walked up to Mike before she thought out what to say.
Mike looked at her appreciatively. This beautiful woman was approaching him like they knew each other.
"Have we met?" He said hopefully.
"Oh", Nick said, "I guess not. You just looked like someone I used to know."
"Well, let me look like someone you are going to know.", Mike smiled.
Nick missed Mike he always was a really good guy.
"I'm sorry I'm Nicki. Do you know when the flight to Las Vegas leaves?" Nick was stretching to work that in.
"That's where I'm headed. Maybe we're sitting together. Let me see your ticket." Mike was stretching too.
He looked at her ticket and was disappointed to see that she was on another flight.
"Looks like you're flying later. What takes you to Vegas?" Mike asked.
Nick hadn't come up with a cover story yet. "Um...really just a whim. I've never been there and I have some time off. I just came in after work and bought a ticket."
"Wow! that is awesome." Mike was impressed with her spontanaiety. "Wait! Do you have a place to stay. I had a hell of a time getting a room this weekend it was convention central."
Nick realized he had not thought this through very well. "I'm sure I'll find something."
"Let me give you my cell number. I wound up getting two beds. If you don't find anything give me a call. I'll be a gentleman."
"I don't know."
"I can give you references." Mike threw out
Nick laughed. Nick knew he could trust Mike. Mike was the most honorable person he had ever met.
Just then Mike's flight cancelation came over the intercom and those on the flight were directed to attain tickets for Nick's flight.
"Come with me to the ticket desk. I'd like to see if I can get a seat next to you. It's nice to have a friend on these flights."
Nick agreed enthusiastically. He thought after doing so it may have been the wrong reaction. He didn't want to set Mike up for heartbreak but this was going to keep him in sight so he could be protected from disappearing. Even if he had to break Mike's heart he could make sure Mike was ok.
They made it to the desk. Mike convinced the ticket seller that she was his fiance and they were given seats together.
They went to an airport diner and talked while waiting for the flight. Durring the conversation Nick was able to hold his own. They connected very well. Nick almost felt like he liked Mike more than he remembered. Mike began to touch her gently. Nick reacted poorly at first but started allowing it so Mike wouldn't be scared away. It was just friendly touching, nothing sexual.
Mike loved that she ordered a full sized dessert even if she didn't finish it. Mike was amazed to meet a girl he had so much in common with who was so beautiful. He decided he wasn't going to let this one get away.
On the plane the coversation continued.
Mike held her hand during the flight. Nick didn't object, she was comfortable with him.
