Under the circumstances, we had no choice but to do what we were here for. The cross brand matches were pretty exciting. It was pretty fun to watch. It was all coming down to the wire. It was us in the lead by 1. Now, it was up to us to keep up the momentum for Battlefield. If we kept it up, Battlefield would have the upper hand. Rage was not going to win this time. Especially not when the tag titles of both brands were on the line. Because our brand was in the lead, we came out first. It was all 6 of us. I was confident that we could handle this. Then, it was the Beach Bums' turn to make their entrance. Max and Jake were here to give it their all. They were accompanied to the ring by a couple of their friends. They knew that they needed all the help that they could get. Too much was at stake to go it alone. When the match started, it was decided that Jake and Leo were the first legal men. They all went back and forth for a long while. They were tagging in their partners regularly. This really was a serious contest. I knew all 4 were locked in. Doing so made this match so entertaining to watch.
Inter-brand competition was exciting for this very reason. You did not get to see such matches often. The Rage audience got to see a sneak peek with the pair of singles matches, but it was never like this. Not even Xavier had tried to cheat yet. Eric and Leo were holding their own well enough. After 10 minutes of clean fun, things began to take a turn. Eric got hit by a nasty move and wisely rolled out of the ring. Jake wanted to keep the action going and went after him. Xavier got in the way. He was helping his cousin out. The friends that Max and Jake brought ringside got in his face and began yelling at him. Xavier yelled back at them. It was turning ridiculous. The situation really got out of hand when Xavier shoved one of them. The second friend smacked Xavier so hard, he fell on his ass. Xavier was not going to just take all that lying down. They started brawling. The referee was not a push over. Not when so much was at stake. He ejected both of them from ringside. Both of them were shocked and upset. The ref dared us to speak up about it. We were all quiet. Eric got back inside.
3 managers were there for Eric and Leo. Child Labor was still showing full force. The Beach Bums only had one friend left in their corner. When Eric and Leo did a tag team finisher on Max, Jake flew into the ring to break it up. I could have been there to stop it. The move looked like it would have ended it. That was a blunder, but it was still okay. Jake would not be able to break up any more pins until he was tagged back in the match. Leo was the legal man and he meant business. He began putting a downed Max into a leg lock. It was in the middle of the ring and looked painful. Jake could do nothing about it. Max was not a quitter. He was not going to give in. The titles were on the line after all. Max was able to hold on until Leo had to let go. Max scurried to Jake and tagged in. Leo was a bit upset. Things moved on. When Jake's momentum got to the limit, he tried to do a running dropkick. Leo dodged. Jake hit the referee instead and knocked him out the ring. That was our signal. It was 5 on 3. It was not hard to do all our signatures and finishers on them. They were now obliterated.
Very clearly, when the referee finally got up and slid back into the ring, all he saw was Leo pinning Jake. He counted the pin, and we won. That was it. Child Labor was a dirty faction. We were heels. We had done the job that we set out to do. The ring announcer made it official. We had screwed the Beach Bums, and all of Rage, out of the match. We now had the World Tag Championships on Battlefield. The referee gave Eric and Leo the titles. We had a nice celebration in the ring. We decided to leave as the boos were getting a bit too loud. I honestly did not care if Battlefield was the ultimate winner or not. The general manager of Battlefield was no friend of ours. This gave us the Power Trip criterion. Eric and Leo were double champions now. The celebration was pretty fun. We went to several clubs and restaurants. Eventually we did hear that Rage indeed lost in the main event. They could not get it together as a team when so many were replacements chosen at random. Rage fans would probably hate our guts for years to come because of this. It did not matter to me. I was not there.
