Obviously, we all defended our titles. Xavier won a match against Weston Quinn for the Intercontinental Championship. Eric and Leo defeated the Whittaker Brothers in a nice tables match for the EWL Tag Team Championships too. Suzie won her own singles match, defending the Women's Championship in dominant fashion. Kodie was there to back everyone up. He did not have to defend the 24/7 Championship. My match was special. I defended my title in a ladder match. That was par for the course when you were a Hardcore Champion. People wanted to see extreme matches. Percy Angelus returned after 13 months on the shelf. His music played as I was climbing up the ladder. Child Labor had my back here. Kodie was taken out by a single punch in the face. So were Eric, Leo and Xavier. Suzie reversed one move, but she got hit by a finisher. By the time he got to me, it was too late. I had the specialty perk that made things quicker while doing the minigame. That did not mean he was not coming after me. I was not going to run from him. I punched him as he climbed up. He fell off it.
I had the title, so I won the match. I was still the Hardcore Champion. I got down the ladder safely. Having him knock down the ladder was a risk. There was nothing that I had to say, so I left the ring. He got up and glared at me with full hatred. Percy was clearly going to be a rival going forward. That was fine with me. I had accomplished the criterion for a year long reign. Even if I dropped it, I had over a year to win it back twice over. That would give me the 3-peat Champion criterion. I was already a big living Legend. I was already a Hall of Fame candidate. Maybe if Percy Angelus formed a posse, we could defeat it and get another criterion. His return was just a chance to become more powerful. However, nothing could happen then and there. It was better to make a tactical retreat. Percy took the time to celebrate his return in the ring. I expected him to do so. I know I would do the same thing if I was in his position. The crowd showered him in endless praise. Child Labor made our way to the back. We were the ones dominating Battlefield. Percy would not change that fact. Percy could not.
Personally, I was not surprised when none of us got chosen to represent Battlefield in the main event of Headshot Haven. What did surprise me was the opportunity that we were given. All of us were backstage watching the big main event. We got called into the general manager's office. I had no clue why they would want us. "I want to make something clear. Making a mockery of my brand is not something I tolerate." was how he started the meeting. I knew he hated us. This was immediately losing my attention. He sighed and said "The general manager is always bragging about all of his champions. How strong they are. How popular they are. How obedient they are. I hate it." That was something. Continuing, he added "So we had a little personal wager for Headshot Haven. Something from bragging rights going forward. Tag champs vs. tag champs at the next pay-per-view is what we landed on after going back and forth for a bit. Both titles will be on the line. Winners take all." That was pretty cool. It was an opportunity to shine. Eric and Leo could be double champions in the end of this.
