It was not meant to be. That was our shot. All we could do was hope that we got to be in the Royal Rumble match. 30 guys would enter the ring. If you were tossed over the top rope and both feet touched the floor, you would be eliminated. All we could do was try our best. I was mostly a tag team wrestler, but I had a very good record in singles matches. We would need to put in a good showing if we wanted to be included in the rumble. Alternatively, we could rally for some other titles. The tag titles were always an option. I made sure to get Benson and I a match against the Flames. Winning against them the first week and against Spade and Clover the next week put us up there in the division. There was a #1 contenders match against Pet Control. They tried to cheat. I was a better cheater. We won and secured the title match at the pay-per-view. I was really happy with that. Byron would be the one to manage us in the match. Owen and Liam both got entry numbers for the upcoming rumble. Owen drew number 18. Liam was the lucky one. He got number 27. I hoped that one of them won.
My hopes went nowhere. It was utter bullshit how we were screwed over. We had gone through the wringer to get the tag titles. Horse went for a devastating back kick on me. It was his signature move. I dodged out the way. As all of us were in red health, we could not afford to slip up. Unfortunately, a male referee was right behind me. He was knocked out cold. That sucked for him. I shoved Horse against the ropes and did my finisher on him. I then tackled Rooster to the floor below. I got the cover for the pin right after. The ref was still down. I should have won by then. I got off of Horse to wake up the ref. That was when all hell broke loose. 10 people wearing cool angel costumes stormed the ring. They mobbed Benson, Byron and I. We got the shit beat out of us. When the ref got up, they fled the ring like the cowards they were. I got a bit heated with them. That was a big mistake. I got caught with a clothesline. Horse covered me and I did not have the strength to kick out. They had won the match. All I got for my hard work was an ass beating. It really sucked. Benson and Byron got hurt.
Now that this was the case, we were going to need to get to the bottom of it. Owen and Liam gave it their all, but they were eliminated. Since they were eliminated, they made their way backstage. That was when the general manager of Picric called us all to his office. "I'm sure that you all had some questions about what happened tonight out there." he said. "Yeah we do! What the hell was that!? We had that match won!" Benson demanded. The general manager had a small smile on his face. "I am well aware you were brought on to push Liam on Boom. You've done a great job. I can't say otherwise. There's just one problem." he said. "What's the problem?" Liam asked. The general manager lost his smile. "This isn't Boom. Let's be frank. You got a push because your aunt is best friends with the other manager. He thought you were good for his show. I don't think you're a good fit for mine. I don't need a magician as champion. After Optimum Drive, your little posse are losing their contracts. I am not renewing them." he said. "What about us 4!? What did we do!?" Owen snapped.
Owen, Benson, Byron and I were all getting let go in a month. The general manager rolled his eyes. "I'm sure Boom will take you back. Look at the bright side. This can be a career reboot. It is your final storyline as demons. You could wrestle under your own names after a month or 2 of laying low. With all the gold you hoarded as a faction down there, you'll be fine." he said dismissively. This pissed me off. There was nothing I could do about it though. It was a good opportunity. This was nowhere near the top of the industry. I was now at level 20. My stats were not terrible. I could not main event a pay-per-view on a top rated show, but I wouldn't be a jobber. On a second rate show, I could probably become a mid card champion. I had achieved enough in one season to be considered a Hall of Famer. I was not going to take this crap. No way would an NPC screw me. Strength: 6 Submission: 3, Endurance: 5, Technique: 5, Speed: 5.5, Diving: 5, Tag: 6, Charisma: 5, Object: 5, and Personnel: 6. I knew my worth. I simply got up and left. There was nothing more to say to the asshole.
