I wanted to see them do well. Unfortunately, they got absolutely obliterated in the puzzle chamber. None of them could answer it correctly. Due to that, the enemy swarms got to them. The brothers survived the first 2. The third swarm killed the beta brother with a brutal combo move. The fourth wiped out the other 2. That was sad. Luckily, you could choose to respawn in the last city you visited. Being spawnkilled over and over was not fun. With how badly it went, I would be very surprised if they chose to stay. Until they could figure out the puzzle, they would simply not be able to advance any further. I smiled and looked at Epsilon. He was pretty bored. That made sense. I was fine with watching others fight. It was not for everyone. He was not able to influence anything from here. Epsilon had already counted them out from the beginning and seeing the brothers fail brought him no pleasure. With that being the case, I walked over to him. "Do you want to hang out in the castle town? If not, I can join you in whatever you were planning to do." I offered. He looked me up and down. "Let's go then."
Really, he had nothing planned. That was why he was willing to watch the brothers even though he was not interested in them. Still, we got to walk around the big castle town. All of the Protectors were polite and respectful. The merchants were not reverent towards us. They were not disrespectful either though. None of them had any reason to care about us. We were both beta males. They did not answer to us. They answered to Tsukasa and his wife here. His wife came with several Akane Clan loyal samurai. This was concerning to me. Nevertheless, we did need more hands to deal with crime and bring order to the streets. The new Slime Lords had proven to be much less effective than I thought. Deep down, I knew it was all due to my mistake when making them. That did not make their behavior any less embarrassing. It was a refreshing experience to have a date in a nice restaurant. We were not treated like deities or celebrities. paid generously for some bowls of pork ramen. It was delicious. I enjoyed myself. Epsilon did as well. There was a singer with an amazing voice. I smiled.
Since this was as good a time as any, I reached out to Epsilon. "Do you want to go back to the castle? I want to count all the freckles on your back again. Maybe you got some new ones." I said. He just raised an eyebrow. That was not a good sign. "Ito is going to be waiting on me. Nikos is going to become a knight soon. I've been training him." he said. That was a clear rejection. He was not bringing this up before I offered to fuck him. I just nodded my head. He was his own person. Force was not something I could use. "I wish him good luck. You should really ask Epsilon to give him some arresting power in town. Keeping the peace is going to be crucial for us going forward. Especially with all of the Akane Clan influence." I told him. "Why haven't you done it? They could make some arrests." he pressed. I just nodded my head again. "Yeah. All of our children could go out and bring peace to the town. They would be like the initial guard force." I said with a smile. Epsilon stood up. "Are we going to pay!?" he asked. "No, I'll pay for everything." I replied. I put a bag of coins on our table.
