While the larger, reassured Karyn easily worked her way up the sullen side of the mirrors, the smaller Karyn had quite evidently never touched them before.
Immediately upon brushing against the wall, the small Karyn was flooded with enough despair to incapacitate someone twice her size. More than anything, the negative emotions centered around her wish that changed her to be more like Sarah.
Small Karyn now understood why she hadn't wished on the stone up there, wishes were horrible things you lose yourself to. She'd give anything to stop that giant freak from making things worse, but she remembered her own drive to leave the hall and realized even that would be hopeless.
Collapsing in tears, the smaller Karyn left off of touching the sullen mirrors, now fully convinced to give up, just like the larger girl had been.
"Come on, give me your hand! I can't reach down that far with you laying down! Get up!" the agitated Karyn said to her.
"Y-you come back down here! I don't want that rock to do anything else to us!" Karyn said between sobs.
"... Fine, princess, I'll just look around up here and actually make something of this." Karyn began exploring the surface.
"Whatever wishes you make, leave me out of them! At least one of us should stay how we're supposed to be..." a small voice called out to her. Had she ever really been like that?
