Obviously, my heir getting married was a very big occasion for Mansfield. Not only was I a notable vassal of Count Swiftheart, Johna was the court mage. People actually respected her. She did her job and did not gossip or try to make claims she could not back up. I did not raise my daughters to be assholes so she was approachable and respectful. Johna was genuinely concerned about the well being and safety of the people in the castle town. It was a good to make people invested in her as a person too. Only family was invited to the wedding, but everyone was invited to the marriage feast thrown for her by the count. It was a great feast. Haganrich was in his disguise for appearances. There was no need to make things awkward for everyone. Even though it was a big party, Bruiser and Battler were still working. Anthony's son needed to be protected. I had a feeling that the real real reason was that they did not want them at the party. There was nothing that I could do about it. I did run into Evan in the kitchen as I was fixing a big plate for them. He was a loyal servant, but was clearly lonely.

Personally, I did not have much time to see how he was doing. "How has life been treating you lately?" I asked him. He had dark bags under his eyes. "The preparations have been long and hard, sir." he said. That was easy to see just by looking at him. "I'm sure that you'll be happy to get some well deserved rest after this, huh?" I said to get a reaction from him as he stared at me. He rolled his eyes. "Until the next major celebration we throw at the manor, Baron Rhombus." he said in response. He was much to tired to hide that he did not care much for me. That was to be expected after basically abandoning him. Evan was a shrewd young man though. He knew that he could speak his mind to me without being punished. When I had been quietly looking at him a bit too long, he sighed loudly. "Will that be all, milord? I wish to make a portion for my supper before retiring for the night." he asked me. "O-oh. Of course. Come make a plate for yourself. I was just going to run this up to Bruiser and Battler." I said. "I'm sure they'll enjoy it, milord." he said before quietly standing beside me. I just left.
