Simone found herself in a totally unfamiliar place. Outside of a nearby window, it was late afternoon...not evening.
She looked down. The same well-worn green V-neck, simple grey undershirt, jeans, and grey trainers. She turned around...there was a door behind her, but not the same one...it was a metal door, and when she opened it, it revealed what looked to be a bathroom. But that hadn't been where she'd come from. The door she'd passed through was gone.
The French woman looked around. She saw a variety of shops. It looked like some sort of indoor market. All the signage was in English, and the people wandering about had American accents. The demon had sounded American as well. Where was she?
She walked up to a woman. "Excusez-moi. Pouvez-vous me dire où je suis?"
The woman looked at her. "I'm sorry?"
English...of course. "Excuse me..." she said. "I am lost...can you tell me where I am? Please." Her English was not, admittedly, the best.
"The Lake Point Mall. Where were you trying to go, young lady?"
"Lake Point...where is this?" The woman told her. "That cannot be..." she insisted.
"You don't remember how you got here?" The woman asked. "Did you hit your head?"
Simone rubbed it. She didn't feel a bump, but this whole thing was very overwhelming. That made a lot more sense than what she thought had happened. But to be honest, she wasn't exactly sure anymore. She was about to respond when she heard a voice calling her name. She spun around.
