Jon did not sleep well, troubled as he was by recent events. As he'd laid in bed trying to fall asleep, he kept thinking about Gina Malucci. He didn't even know what she looked like, much less how she'd somehow disrupted his life.
When he finally drifted off to sleep, he found himself at the kitchen table, helping Mikey with his homework, like he did several times a week. They would both sit and work on their assignments together, and when Mikey needed help, Jon would help him. As dreams went, this was fairly tame.
But as Jon looked down at the assignment, the words on the page seemed like gibberish. He couldn't make heads or tails of it. "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Are you sure this is even English?"
Mikey looked at him. "That's not what it says...You usually help me with this when I'm stuck."
Jon looked down. "I think there's something wrong with this assignment."
Then, suddenly, the back door opened, and a raven haired beauty entered. She was glowing, literally, like some sort of angel. He couldn't clearly make out her features.
"Gina!!" Mikey said. He practically jumped up and ran over and hugged her. "No one is around to help me with my homework, can you?"
"Sure, Mikey. You know I always have time to help you," the angelic teen said.
She looked toward Jon. "Do you mind?" she said. "I need to sit there."
"I'm the one helping Mikey with his homework," Jon said. "He doesn't even like you."
"What do you mean? Gina's the best," Mikey insisted. "She's smart, kind..."
"I just need to be done by six...Karyn and I have a date," Gina said.
Jon felt unnaturally angry. He rose from the chair to confront Gina. "I don't know what your game is, but...Karyn is my friend and Mikey is my brother."
Gina seemed to ignore him and slip into the seat next to Mikey. "Now, show me where you are having a problem..."
Jon stood there, dumbfounded, and tried to regain his seat, but not only was Gina not budging, the two of them were carrying on as if Jon wasn't even there. He reached over, and started to pull Mikey away from the girl. Mikey struggled, calling for Gina to help him.
Gina wound up and punched him straight in the face...and then he woke up.
