Nick was caught off guard by the kiss. He was even more off guard for Betty's tongue caressing his lips until he parted them. It was his first kiss in weeks, and he was starting to enjoy it when Betty pulled back.
"Sorry Nick, I don't know what came over me, you have a girlfriend and I haven't kissed a guy like that since high school..." muttered Betty.
"I didn't mind at all. My girlfriend and I...are no longer together."
"I thought it was weird that she was 'out of town' when we first met."
"We were going through something, but it was tough for us. She seems to be ok though, which is good."
"If you say so Nick. Tough time for Pete to not be available to talk, thanks to my sister."
"He probably isn't the best person to talk to about the breakup."
"You can talk to me, if that helps," offerred Betty. Nick decided to let Betty know that Megan and he got distant after an argument before awkardly asking, "Are you seeing anyone?"
"I have someone I hook up with sometimes, but no one I'm officially seeing. Why?"
"Just asking," replied Nick. The two decided to go for a walk around town and eventually ending up in the movie theather which was showing "Ghostbusters" for a 40th annivsersary. They got some matinee tickets, some popcorn and went into the theater. Throughout the movie, they laughed at the same moments and quoting the same lines. Nick whispered "this magnificent feast represents the last of the petty cash" pointing to the popcorn causing Betty to laugh so hard she snorted, causing Nick to burst out laughing. The interaction culminated in someone shushing them. They managed to calm down, and Betty put her head on Nick's arm for the remainder of the film.
"I thought you liked newer movies?" asked Nick on the way out.
"I appreciate a classic, I just like newer movies more. Next time, we watch something after 2000," answered Betty.
"Fair. That was the most fun I've ever had at the movies."
"Same, Nick. It feels so easy with you. If only you has a pussy, I would date you in a second, "said Betty, grabbing then holding Nick's hand. Nick winced, partly because he had a pussy right now and partly because he really wanted to date Betty, but his situation was difficult. At least Megan was able to have sex. Nick realized he could too, but how would it work? It was so disappointing the day he changed and couldn't have sex with Megan.
"Back in your head Nick?"
"Just thinking it would be nice to date you. Maybe I could change a couple things to make you be ok with dating me as a guy?" asked Nick hopefully. Betty took a second before replying, "Normally I would say no, but something about you is different. Tell you what, I'll think about it and let you know. I like your personality and your body is hotter than most guy's already."
"So you're saying there's a chance?"
"Yes, Lloyd, I'm saying there's a chance. In the mean time, let's talk about other things on the way back to my place."
The two talked mainly movies, but talked a bit about current events and changes coming to the town. Betty mentioned that she and Amber moved into town about 9 months ago for Betty's job. Amber was part of the gig economy. Before the conversation had even one lull, they were at Betty's place. They ordered Doordash and watched the most recent Ghostbusters movie together, which Nick hadn't seen yet but really enjoyed. Nick was driven home by Betty, who picked up Amber at the same time. Amber gave a big smile to Nick as she went by, and gave him a wink. Nick went into the apartment to see Megan's door closed. He washed up, taking extra note of his hair. He climbed into bed and got a text.
"I was thinking if you grew out your hair, that would be great. Your eyelashs look good already. Maybe a nose ring, those really do it for me. I'd like to threat your eyebrows. If we are staying in, you looked good in pants that hug your booty. Show off all that hard work from Yoga and squats. Just thinking about it gets my motor running."
