Gina and Karyn began to walk out of the school yard when a thought hit Karyn. "Your sudden interest doesn't have anything to do with my wish, does it?" She asked Gina suddenly.
"Wish?" Gina said.
The wishing stone was Jon's. He inherited it from his grandfather. He'd brought it to show Karyn, and she'd made her wish.
But Gina was Karyn's best friend...newly with benefits. The sort of friend she would keep secrets with, not from. More like...Jon, who would know exactly what Karyn was talking about.
The energy still reconciling the original wish snapped back into action. Jon had a wishing stone, Gina having one would make her more like Jon. But there was only one wishing stone. The stone and the box it arrived in suddenly vanished from Jon's room and reappeared in Gina's room.
"Yes, these," Karyn said, gesturing to her breasts and hair.
"Well, my interest isn't sudden..." Gina said. "I feel like it's been there as long as I've known you."
Karyn paused. She was just being self-conscious. They continued on to Gina's car.
When Jon arrived home, he told his mother he was going to take it easy. He felt better but he needed to figure out what was going on. He headed to his room, intending to get the wishing stone. It felt like things were spiraling out of control. And it all centered around Gina Malucci. But...she'd never been in Jon's house...he'd never even met her. And suddenly she was dating Karyn.
When he discovered the wishing stone was gone, he felt sick again. But who could have it, and if they made a wish, why would he remember anything was odd? Karyn didn't. Who would make a wish about Gina Ma....
Jon paused. There was only one person who might have somehow found the wishing stone and knew Gina Malucci. He needed to talk to his brother...now.
