(Author's note: Was discussing a different part of this branch in the chat, but I had always wanted to continue this back then, and never did, so thought I'd branch off in a third direction.)
Nina sat at Cateline's mirror smiling to herself. I love the way we French girls stick together, she thought. She wondered if Cateline would mind if she borrowed some of her perfume. Looking down at the table top in front of the mirror she noticed Cateline's lucky necklace lying there. I wonder how I would look with it, on she thought reaching for The Necklace of Infinite Possibilities that Cateline had left lying at her vanity.
As her fingers lifted the necklace, she remembered how Jon had seemed concerned over it. Nina wondered why that might be. Nina felt such a connection to him, despite just meeting. There was just something about him. What had Cateline said...shy and cute? He wasn't the typical male who came in here.
Of course, he seemed to be focused on Cateline...but who wasn't? Although it didn't seem sexual, he seemed almost...worried about her. And age difference aside, he wasn't Cateline's normal type. She put the necklace around her neck, closing the clasp. She tucked it into her top and looked at herself in the mirror for a moment. Then she suddenly remembered Jon was waiting for her outside, and rushed out, forgetting to put it back.
She returned to the table he was sitting it. He was looking around, nervously. "Is everything all right?" He asked.
"Yes," she said. "Cateline wants to see you after the show."
"Umm...how do you two know each other?" Jon asked.
"She is why I am here," Nina said. "Same as you, I think. And now I help out," she said. "But, we can talk about her later...Tell me more about you."
"Well, not much to tell," Jon said, not sure what he should say. "Karyn and I are friends...and that's why I'm here."
She grasped his hand lightly. "I would like to be your friend as well...perhaps even more," she said, smiling as she looked at him. "I would like to go somewhere where we can do this."
Jon saw something glow around her neck, and realized she must be wearing the Necklace of Infinite Possibilities. Suddenly, everything changed.
