Back in the dressing room Karyn was getting ready to go on stage with the other girls for the last routine of the show. “Ah là, vous êtes Nina “(Ah there you are Nina) Karyn said as Nina walked into the dressing room. “Je voulais vous poser des questions sur ce garçon américain qui était avec vous avant” (I wanted to ask you about that American boy who was with you before) Karyn continued.
“Oui Jon, je ne peux pas me souviens plus quand je l'ai rencontré. Il est mignon mais timide” (Yes Jon, I can’t quite remember when I met him. He is cute but shy.) Nina replied trying to hide the smile on her face. “Oui il est mignon mais il est un Américain, vous comment ils sont” (Yes he is cute but he is an American, you how they are.) Karyn told Nina as she fixed her hair. “Oui Cateline Je sais qu'ils ne sont pas aussi cultivés que nous Français sont, mais je l'aime” (Yes Cateline I know they are not as cultured as we French are but I like him) Nina said to Karyn trying not to blush any more than she already was.
“Ramène-le stade après le spectacle et je vais essayer de le convaincre pour vous “(Bring him back stage after the show and I will try and convince him for you.) Karyn whispered in to Nina’s ear. “Je vous jure que vous avez un nouvel homme dans votre vie avant la fin de la journée ou mon nom est pas Cateline Noir” (I swear to you that you will have a new man in your life before the end of the day or my name isn’t Cateline Noir) Karyn finished as she got up to go and join the rest of the girls on stage for the final number of the night.
Nina sat at Cateline’s mirror smiling to herself. I love the way we French girls stick together she thought. She wondered if Cateline would mind if she borrowed some of her perfume. Looking down at the table top in front of the mirror she noticed Cateline’s lucky necklace lying there. I wonder how I would look with it on she thought reaching for The Necklace of Infinite Possibilities that Cateline had left lying at her vanity.
