Sarah's sprightly little Miata felt like a big old muscle car with a thrumming diesel engine, the way her own self-satisfaction was flowing through her veins. Jon had spent the entire day taking things from her, bit by bit, step by step. But no one beat Sarah McMillan. She wouldn't let them.
Nothing else mattered. What mattered was that Jon knew now that he couldn't just mess with her and get away with it. Sarah wasn't stupid, she was actually quite clever, even if her priorities were different than many others and often selfish. When she calmed down, she might actually realize she might have murdered someone. Even Sarah had her limits.
Meanwhile, Jon, enraged over what she did, but not going to do anything of the scale, had made a wish, tying Sarah's fate to his. Sarah trying to sabotage him would only make things worse for her. Nothing said that he had to be just a little bit better than Sarah, after all. He could be a lot. As angry as he was, he had tied it to Sarah's own behavior.
He found that Sarah's number was in his phone now, so he texted her. "You erased my sister from existence, you evil bitch. I'm not trying to do anything to you, this is a curse. Just stay as far away from me as we both can, don't try anything or things will get worse for both of us, and for me, worse means better."
He seriously doubted that he'd be able to avoid Sarah, being as he was so close to Susan now, but...unlike his sister, at least Sarah had been given fair warning. He'd tried wishing that what Sarah had done hadn't resulted in Zoe being erased from existence. The stone didn't do anything....unknown to him, because while Zoe as his sister had been erased, Zoe was very much still in existence.
