Karyn had been surprised by the wardrobe changes. Although she'd pushed back on some suggestions, somehow, she found herself being very agreeable to changing her clothes. But no skirts and tight outfits for her. Her new outfit was comfortable, but still made her look good. And to her surprise, she liked that combination.
Class, however, despite the excitement of her temporary change, was the same it always was, except she noticed a few people were not there. They must be out sick or something.
She was heading down the hall when suddenly Kate appeared out of a nearby classroom door. "We've been talking, and we definitely need to cast some female friends..."
"I have female friends," Karyn protested.
"Female acquiantances maybe...I mean, you need to interact with more than just one person...otherwise it gets stale. We need an ensemble. Also...there's a serious lack of representation around here."
"Representation?"
"Black, asian, hispanic...if you watched around here, you might wonder if anyone who wasn't white even existed."
"We have that here..."
"Yeah, but you don't really interact with them...so, we're going to fix that and feature someone with a different background more."
Karyn frowned. "I guess that's all right..." It sounded good in theory, but...it wasn't like anyone was actively trying to make this a majority Caucasian community...at least not in her lifetime. It just sort of...was.
"Don't worry, by lunchtime, we'll figure it out."
