Jon and Rebecca had been paying so much attention to what had been happening on the screen they hadn’t heard the front door open and close.
“Who is the old woman, is she your new girlfriend Jon?” came the voice from behind them.
Jon knew right away that it was his sister back from whatever it was her and her friends had been doing.
“Zoe this is Rebecca she is helping me with something,” Jon told his sister. He didn’t see any reason to worry her at the moment about what was happening with their Mom, not that she would believe him anyway.
“Hey, Zoe is it? I am helping your brother with a school project.” Rebecca said trying to get rid of the girl, she had enough to deal with the boy she didn’t need another kid hanging around.
“I bet you're helping him,” Zoe said with a smile on her face.
“Zoe!” Jon said knowing full well what his sister was saying.
Meanwhile …
Jane had given up trying to find out where that voice had come from. She was sure that she was alone in the office. Must be part of the dream she thought to herself. She looked out the window and saw that Detective Riley was still standing across the street watching the office so as she went to lock up the office she decided to leave the light on.
It might still be the middle of the afternoon but Mr. S was out for the rest of the day so why not take advantage of it? She went to grab her coat and bag and headed out to do a bit of shopping. She knew that this was only a dream but why not enjoy herself, where else could she go shopping for a vintage 1950s outfit without anyone looking at her?
“It won't cost me anything.” She said aloud to the empty office.
"This can all be yours if you want.” The whisper said.
Jane decided to ignore it this time. She had spent an hour looking for the source of it last time and couldn’t find it. So she wasn’t going to waste any more time doing it again besides the shops were calling her, well sort of.
Back in the 21st century.
“I don’t care what you two are doing I just want to watch the TV,” Zoe told Jon and Rebecca Jon and Rebecca.
“Can you wait? I was watching something.” Jon replied once again hiding the situation from his sister.
“Too bad!.” Zoe said as she picked up the remote from the arm of the couch.
Neither Jon nor Rebecca had been paying much attention to the remote as they weren’t looking to change the channel any time soon.
“Zoe don’t..” Jon tried to say to his sister as she started to move towards the TV screen.
“Wha What is going on?” She asked as noticed the TV was closer without her walking towards it.
Jon realized at once what was happening.
“Rebecca grab my hand and hold on to the couch.” He shouted to her.
“What is happening Kid,” Rebecca asked while doing what Jon had told her.
“Jon what is happening,” Zoe asked her brother.
“Grab my hand, Zoe,” Jon shouted to her.
“W…” Zoe said as she disappeared and the TV remote fell to the floor with a dull fud turning the TV off. All of a sudden the pull on Jon and Rebecca ceased.
“What happened Kid?” Rebecca asked.
“That was what happened to my Mom earlier,” Jon told her without telling her that he and almost ended up inside the TV himself before his Mother.
“So why didn’t it happen to us? We have been sitting in front of the TV for a while now.” Rebecca asked him
“I am not sure but all I can think of is that we didn’t do anything to TV so it didn’t do anything to us,” Jon told her.
“So what do we do next? Do we go back to trying to get your Mom out or find out what happened to your sister?” Rebecca asked
