A moment later, Jeff heard the front door being opened, then closed shut. Then he heard the voices of his 14-year old sister and his mom. They must have just returned from the mall.
Not wanting his mom to find out what he was doing with his girlfriend/boyfriend, Jeff quickly put on his clothes, which made Jenny disappointed. She wanted to explore more of what it was like to be male, and gay. But she could see the look of worry and embarrassment on Jeff's face, so she/he too got redressed. Jeff was already out the door and heading downstairs, when Jenny noticed that her clothing had changed. Her panties were now boys briefs, her bra was nowhere to be found, and her shirt, pants, and shoes were most definitely male. She thought that only her body would change, not clothing too. Shrugging, she put on the clothing, then headed downstairs after Jeff.
Looking up from the shopping bags that she had placed on the kitchen table, Jeff's mom watched as Jenny entered the room. "Oh, Johnny. I didn't know you were here," she said.
Jenny turned and looked behind her, seeing that no one was there. Was Jeff's mom talking to her? Was that her name now? Wait, why was Jeff's mom acting like Jenny was normally male? The Chronivac wasn't supposed to work that way, or was it?
"Jeff, maybe you should tell your boyfriend to leave," his mom said.
"My ... wait, how do you know that she's ... uh, that he's my boyfriend?" he asked his mom, confused. Shouldn't she not recognize the male version of Jenny? Wait, his mom was acting like it was just normal for Jeff to have a boyfriend. Did she really think that he was gay? Like normally gay? Maybe he missed something when inspecting the Chronivac program, but he was pretty sure it wasn't supposed to make reality changes, or was it?
"What do you mean?" his mom asked, confused. "You've been dating for weeks now."
Jeff was starting to think that the Chronivac made automatic changes to reality, as a default. Maybe so that other people wouldn't freak out over the changes made by the device? He wasn't sure if this was a good thing or bad thing. He wasn't quite sure he liked the idea of people thinking he was gay, no matter how much Jenny/Johnny was okay with it.
"I don't think it's a good idea for Johnny to be here when your father comes home. You know how he feels about your ... relationship," his mom said. "He's still trying to cope with the fact that you're gay. That was a big shock when you told us a few months ago. Seeing Johnny here might make things worse, for the both of you."
Jeff knew that his dad could be intolerant of certain things, but it pained him to hear that his dad was now having those prejudices against him. He normally had good relationship with his dad. Now ... because of what Jenny did ... that was all gone. Until they returned things to normal, that was.
Turning towards Johnny, Jeff said "Maybe she's right. I mean, if you don't want to change back right now, like you said, then maybe you should go. I don't want to make trouble."
"Are you kidding me? You're throwing me out?" Johnny asked, getting irritated. Just moments ago, they were having sex ... hot sex! And now she/he was being banished just because Jeff's dad didn't like gays? That was so unfair!
Right at that moment, the front door was being unlocked, and then began to open. Jeff's dad was home from work!
"Come on, you can go out the back door," Jeff insisted.
"What? No way! I'm not leaving," Johnny said, then pulled the Chronivac portable emitter from his pocket.
"Hey, what are you doing with that?" Jeff asked, alarmed, watching as his girlfriend-turned-boyfriend began making adjustments with it.
"What's he doing here?" Jeff's dad demanded, right before he got blasted with the Chronivac.
