Her hand immediately gripped the hilt of her sword. "What are you doing here!?" she demanded. "Zahrelon was killed by demons yesterday." I said. Her eyes widened. It was a surprise to her. "What!?" she shouted. I nodded my head. "A fire broke out. It was all over the news. Were you out of the city?" I asked. She groaned out loud. "I was doing a mission for the Adventurer's Guild." That made sense. "Yep. Can we stay with you for a bit? We need a place to stay." I asked. She frowned as she looked off to the side. "I... might be able to speak up for you. But only if you do a good deed to show you aren't a danger." she said. "Lead the way." I said, gesturing towards the temple. She rolled her eyes and said "After you." I nodded and walked back in. The cleric was angry we returned. When the paladin came in after us, she looked really confused. "They want to prove they are no harm to us by doing a good deed." she explained. I looked at Kyle. "Give the cleric 6 soul coins. I hear that releasing the souls from the coins was a good thing." The cleric held out her hand. "That is true." she sighed.
She was more willing to hear us out now. There was a barracks for the paladins on the outskirts of the city. We would be allowed to stay there for the time being. I told my party to be on their best behavior. "No feeding on them while we're here. Go out and feed on someone random. Just don't kill them." I told them. Their god of justice was lawful good. We were lawful evil. The air elementals had no alignment at all. They were pure energy- forces of nature. I would be shocked if they had an opinion about anything other than the superiority of the Elemental Plane of Air. The paladins were not happy to see us. However, they had to admit that we were wronged and had done a good thing. Still, it was not that much of an acceptance. None of them would say more than 2 words to us. We did not need them to. All we needed was a nice place to stay while we planned our next move. I had an idea. The fact were were from Hell meant that it was our home. We could go back there. We were probably high leveled enough to take on most of the devils that would try to attack us. 10 souls sounded right.
6 souls a day was the daily rent we promised to stay in the barracks. We had so many and this was a temporary place to rest up. I asked Kyle and Myles to get more information on their god so we could butter them up. They all were reluctant at first, but they gave them some information. His name was Gutono. He was a lawful good deity. He appreciated the worship of those that were lawful or good. That meant that Chaotic Good and Lawful Neutral creatures could worship as well. That did not apply to any of us. I had hoped that there would be no restriction from evil creatures worshiping him too. Then we could join. Upsetting, but totally understandable. The paladin came up to us a couple of days later. "That tip of your bore fruit. The warehouses are all desecrated and some even have abyssal artifacts out in the open." I said "I gave you the tip out of spite. I don't know what good it will do you. It will piss of the demons if you attack them there. You better make sure you guys and the clerics are ready for a war. The devils of the city will just watch and wait to see who wins it." I warned her.
