When Rebecca exited the room Lydia was in, she found Ruby Grant standing there. Her body language indicated she was angry. "What are you even doing here?" Ruby asked her. "If all you can do is watch and manipulate things?"
"Watching and manipulating things," Rebecca said. "Now,, once the two of them are on their way...would you like to have breakfast? I saw a diner a few blocks away."
Ruby blinked. "What?"
"I'm inviting you to breakfast," Rebecca said, seriously.
Ruby was completely confused, as it seemed out of left field. "Umm...sure."
Rebecca smiled. It actually seemed sincere. "Good. To be honest, I don't get to just share a meal with someone without an agenda usually."
"Who ARE you?" the doctor blurted out.
Rebecca looked at her, utterly serious. "What they needed me to be. I'm not like the people we're studying. I can't just...slip into a new role so easily. This is what they trained me to do. It is hard to turn it off. I am trying though."
Ruby paused. "Fine...I could use some coffee..."
"And you can tell me what you see in Michaels...."
Ruby looked at her seriously. "I don't see anything in him, not that it is any of your business. I didn't explain because I was kind of enjoying you being wrong about something. I mean, you act like you know everything, even though this whole situation is as much a mystery to you as the rest of us."
"Fair enough," Rebecca said.
The door to one of the two isolated rooms opened, and Buster entered. "Excuse me, but I'd like to get home," he said.
"Oh, sorry," Rebecca said. "Almost forgot you were waiting there for a moment," she admitted. "Thank you for coming in. We do appreciate it."
"I hope you find answers," Buster said, honestly. "But...right now I want a nice hot shower and a clean pair of clothes. Where's Lyddi?"
Rebecca pointed. Buster opened the door in question and Lydia bounded out. "Let's go home," Buster said, attaching a leash to the still part-human's collar and heading out.
The two women exchanged glances. "Coffee," they both said.
