The boys who were already dazed were easy targets, so Sarah started with them. She took Steve's hand: "You're boy-crazy." And soon he was looking around the locker room and swooning at the sight of his classmates. Sarah's focus was already pretty much locked on to Karyn, so she didn't need to be attracted to boys anyway.
She found Nelson: "You're fashion-forward." The boy began to pull articles of clothing from his locker that were not there before, in colors and fabrics that Nelson had never worn. Sarah's pullover became a T-shirt, and her jeans shifted into a more shapeless cut.
Finally, she reached Fulton: "You are addicted to gossip." A blush appeared on his cheeks as a smile appeared on his face, and he spent the next few minutes chatting with anyone who would spare him a word.
Or at least, he did until each of them succumbed to Sarah's touch, growing lifeless and mute even as Sarah became more robust. She wasn't sure if she needed to wait before double-dipping, and she wanted to test out her new physique a bit anyway. So when Coach Burlington blew his whistle to usher everyone out of the locker room and into the gym, what he found was four boys giggling in a corner together with wildly animated facial expressions and hand gestures, another two dozen boys aimlessly shuffling back and forth, and Sarah McMillan, eyes blazing as she looked at her own palms in ecstatic disbelief, laughing to herself like a comic book supervillain.
