Zoe grabbed her phone and dialed the number for her sister who had been there to have dinner with them before Jon had come over. Her husband wasn't home at the moment, and he had taken their vehicle with enough space for her that day. Zoe needed someone to get her to Jon so she could give him a piece of her mind. She'd have her eldest daughter take her, but she had gone off on a date.
"Hey sis, could you come get me?" Zoe asked after her sister answered. "I need to go see Stephanie and her son as soon as possible."
"I guess that's fine, but can I get more details?" Her sister sounded concerned.
Zoe could hardly blame her. It was getting later, and she had just called out of the blue to ask to be taken to see her ex. Though Zoe knew they hadn't been sisters until that afternoon her new sibling was obviously worried.
It seemed surreal now that she had never had a younger sister until this afternoon. She knew the woman she was talking with still had a sibling rivalry with her and wanted to overtake Zoe as fattest in the family. Before all this she'd likely never thought of wanting to be a ball of blubber.
"I'll explain while we're driving over." Zoe was confident she could come up with a convincing story.
"Alright, I'll be over shortly to get you then. Just you, or are any of the girls coming?" The woman on the other end asked.
"Just me. I don't want the girls getting caught up in any extra drama." Zoe knew that Marie would want to come along, but she needed privacy with Jon.
Back at Jon's house Karyn was doing her best to console Jon.
"Do you want to tell me what you've done that you think you can't be forgiven for?" Karyn asked the young man carefully.
Jon knew immediately Karyn wasn't the one to become aware. Though a small part of him had hoped he knew it wouldn't be that simple.
"I don't know how to explain everything." Jon sighed.
"Just start from the beginning." Karyn encouraged him.
Jon wondered if he should just wish for Karyn to be aware as well. Someone out there knew about what he had done. He had no clue if they'd be a friend or enemy. At this point it couldn't hurt to have more help.
On the other hand he feared what Karyn would think of him more than almost anyone. How would she react to his selfishness and what it had cost her? Would she help him, or never want to see him again? In his vulnerable state Jon wasn't sure what he'd do if Karyn told him she hated him.
