Katherine pulled up into the employee lot at the school. "Okay...per our agreement...once we are in the school, you are just another student...one who happens to call me Mom..."
"Thank you," Michelle said. "I'm just trying to survive high school, okay?"
"I understand...I am not taking it personally. Although I would have appreciated it if you hadn't sounded like having me as a mother was such an embarrassment."
"Mom!!" Michelle said. "Fine...see you tonight...love you.." She exited the car and entered the school before reaching into her bag and pulling out the class schedule and school map her mother had given her.
She found her first class, having gotten there early, and sat down. As other students started to file in, one approached her. "You're in my seat..."
"Umm...sorry...new here." She found another seat.
