"Maybe she got out of work early?" Jon said, turning in the direction Melony was looking and then freezing as he saw someone who was not Linda Madison walking toward them, his jaw dropping.
The woman who approached them was not Linda Madison. Jon had no idea who she was.
Melony was oblivious to that,. "Mom...what are you doing here?"
"I got out of work early...so I thought I'd come pick you two up and maybe we could eat out tonight," the stranger said.
"Sounds great," Melony said.
"What about you Jon? You don't have plans, do you?" new Mom said. Jon didn't respond. "Earth to Jon..." He blinked.
"Umm...no, no plans..."
"Are you all right, sweetie?" she asked.
"Just...long day. Glad it is over," he said. That got him a suspicious look, but allowed 'Mrs. Madison', whoever she was, to urge him toward the car.
