"Well, it has been a wonderful afternoon, Sarah," Jon said. "I'm so glad you invited us."
"My pleasure. Why don't we get together for lunch later in the week?" she said, smiling.
"Of course...you have my number," Jon replied without even questioning it....as if they were rekindling an old friendship. He turned to Laura. "Ready to go?"
"Next time at my place," Laura said to Lucy.
"Sounds like fun."
Jon walked over and took Karyn's hand. "Did you have fun?"
"Lots!! I wish we had a pool," Karyn exclaimed.
"Maybe someday," Jon said.
Sarah looked over. "Jon...would you mind giving Abby a lift back to her car?"
"We have room if we do it on the way to pick up Mikey," Jon said.
Abby looked at him. "Thanks..." She turned. "Come on," she told Ethan. "You can gossip with your new friend later."
Sarah slipped next to Lucy as everyone filed out. It had been a wonderful afternoon.
