Sarah was having a miserable morning. It had started with Jon's mom loudly yelling through the door for him to wake up, and only gone down hill from there. The morning routine he'd apparently inherited from his body's previous owner was admittedly a lot lower maintenance than what he was used to, but, between that goth brat leaving him with only freezing cold water to shower, and discovering he was expected to make his own breakfast of what turned out to be very watery oatmeal, he couldn't find it in himself to enjoy it. More than anything he found himself missing that usual bubbly excitement he got at the start of term. Instead of looking at herself in the mirror that morning, feeling pretty and confident in his meticulously planned outfit, only dweebish Jon Gibson in an old black tee shirt and jeans stared back.
Ugh, getting dressed had been a nightmare in of itself. Gibson's instructions had been stupidly uncomplicated: grab any of his dozen or so k-mart tees and a pair of jeans, slide on his white ankle socks and then Jon's ONLY pair of sneakers. Seriously, who on earth has like only three pairs of shoes!?. It wouldn't have mattered anyway; even if he'd been let loose with his daddy's credit card at a department store, he'd have been hard pressed to make his new body look genuinely good, at least by his old standards. Jon might not be a tub of lard like Drullers, or painfully scrawny like Duncan, but Gibson's body was almost ludicrously plain. Still, he'd managed to shuffle out of his hopefully temporary new house on time to meet up with Karyn at the end of the block. The redhead, (due to her wishing to have consistently dyed her hair from a young age, nobody knew Karyn was also now a natural blonde), had uncharacteristically shed her usual green jumper in favor of a soft grey fitted long sleeve boat neck top that showed off Karyn's curves a fair bit more than her usual baggy shapeless numbers. The sight of her made Sarah burn with an unfamiliar jealousy, especially with the light smirk on her current 'best friend's' face.
Sure, despite her surprisingly sizable rack, Karyn wasn't nearly as pretty as Sarah normally was, Obviously, but at the moment... "What's got you so happy?" Sarah demanded as he fell into step beside Karyn.
Karyn rolled her eyes playfully and replied, "just looking forward to the first day back. You think you're ready to be Jon in public?"
Sarah grimaced and crossed her arms, "like how much is there to get? The more important thing is making sure she doesn't screw up my life. Unlike Jon, I have a reputation to maintain."
"Well, at the moment she's the one with the reputation, Jon," Karyn said, remind Sarah of the need to keep his current name straight. "Let's just trust her to manage it."
"Like, whatever," Sarah muttered but didn't push it further. There wasn't much else he could do right now anyway. Hopefully the training they'd done would be enough for Jon to get by, and then they could work on damage controlling whatever she inevitably screwed up.
