Zoe helped Karyn out of the the dripping wet shirt and bathing suit and wrang them out in the sink while Karyn dried herself off.
It gave Zoe a chance to really look at her. Karyn had been slightly taller than her last week, and now she was over a head shorter. Had Zoe grown or had Karyn just shrunk? Zoe made a note to measure herself to see if she'd added a few inches.
Zoe had always...at least since she'd developed, noticed Karyn's resemblance to Sarah McMillan. It had never made sense why Karyn didn't change her hairstyle or something, as much as she'd hated Sarah before all of this. But no one would mistake Karyn for a pretty cheerleader now. It wasn't just the height...her hair had shortened with her body, and was a messy blonde-brown mix that, still being long in relation to her head, looked like it needed a trim. Her breasts were still there, but had shrunk with her body. Zoe thought of her own breasts, which were barely noticeable under the shirt.
"I think I'm dry enough," Karyn said. Zoe handed her pieces of clothing, one by one. Briefs, shorts, t-shirt...then socks and sneakers. The wet clothes went into the now empty bag. Zoe found a comb and had Karyn comb her hair.
"We look real different," Karyn said, looking at both of them in the mirror.
"Yeah, I guess," Zoe said. "I mean...I was just thinking that too. If I'm taller now."
"You look taller..." Karyn agreed.
"You look shorter," Zoe said.
"Hey...." Karyn protested.
"How do you feel about changing?"
"It's...okay, I guess," Karyn said. "I mean, I don't really understand it..."
"None of us do," Zoe said. "But...Jon keeps saying we're all in this together. Like...we're all going through it, so we have each other, right?"
Karyn nodded.
"And no matter how much we change, we're still us."
"You used to wear a dress," Karyn pointed out.
"I don't have the figure for it anymore," Zoe said, honestly. And, to be honest, she didn't really feel like wearing one. Being with Athena, she wasn't really feeling a dark aesthetic...or angry. She was feeling...almost happy. Although, there was a nagging feeling that it wouldn't last, or something considering the situation would ruin it.
"Okay...are we going home now?" Karyn asked.
"Soon," Zoe said, folding the towel and leaving it behind for Robert. "I hope..." She definitely thought being around so many people like them was starting to confuse everyone. Simon was talking with Biff and another girl...boy...whatever. Jon was hovering like a Mom...
