We then learned that food and supplies had indeed gone missing recently. He was forced to return it all. That was the extent of the penalty he faced. I would have did a bit more to him, but this was not my clan or my settlement to manage. Chase and Kyan had worked on a meal and had gotten the support of the mess hall staff. They all praised them highly for helping. It was not hard for them to do at all. They were both level 65 cyborgs, they could handle simple meal preparation. After 2 more meals, I would let them know that they could go find Parker and play. With the amount of healing in the infirmary, that task was already done. We only needed 2 more. The mess hall served supper and Chase and Kyan were right in the middle of everything. They did not want any more food stolen. Thankfully, none of it was. That was 2 meals finished. Nicoletta came back to tell us about another smuggling operation that was going on. I told her to come with me to tell Void Clan. Once we did, they were a bit upset this was going on. They said they would break it up. They did not want trouble.

Getting into trouble meant inviting conflict. War with the Conqueror faction clans was already on the horizon. We went to the sleeping tent we had been assigned to rest up. I did not need to, but I went back to the infirmary to heal more people. I did this until lunchtime. That was when Chase and Kyan finished the mess hall requirement. It was time for them to join up with Parker. Maybe the 3 of them could make friends with the Void Clan AEPs. We would be better served doing that rather than using their acid shotgun against mechanical monsters. I went to find Nicoletta. She was shadowing a particularly creepy looking guy. In a hut on the outskirts of the settlement, there were 3 young women chained to a metal rail. It seemed they were in the business of human trafficking. We immediately reported it. The women were saved and the men were banished. It seemed that there was a ton of corruption and structural problems that the clan simply could not deal with on their own. That could be used as a real bargaining chip when the time came. We were thanked for telling them about all this.

All of the credit went to Nicoletta. I was the skeptical one here. She was also the government agent. I made sure that all of the Void Clan members knew that. She simply rolled her eyes at the praise. Nicoletta then went about her way, looking out for more crime to stop. I looked at the menu and there was a new option for the required 3 tasks. "End corruption in the settlement 2/3" was what it said. This had to have been a secret part of the mission. It was almost done. We just had to find one more big source of corruption. I caught back up to Nicoletta. She raised an eyebrow at me. I certainly was not her favorite person. "What!?" she asked. "You were right. This place is crawling with crime." I said. She crossed her arms, but remained quiet. "The Void Clan either can't do anything about it or is passively accepting that it going on to stay in the area near their transmission hub. We really need to be on our toes. The big criminals that really run this place are probably going to strike soon if we keep clearing out the trash." I finished. Nicoletta scoffed and cracked her knuckles. "Let them try it!"
