Still, the menu was telling me that there was a 3 day timer on it. I guess that she would either ask for it back or want a report by then. Either way, it was time to pass next to the mess hall. The cooks could use some help. If we took time out to help prepare and serve 3 meals, that would serve as one of the 3 required acts. There was a big infirmary next to the mess hall. The sick and injured were put here to rest. We could try to help people recover. It would be perfect for me. I was a paladin with healing magic. After that, we finally met their AEP units. They seemed friendly enough. It seemed that they were adverse to talking with us though. Getting them to trust us was the fourth option. We had 3 days to accomplish at least 3 of the 4 tasks. I pulled my party into a close huddle. "Alright, this is a mission to win the hearts and minds of the settlement. Is there anything in particular you guys want to do here? I'll be helping in the infirmary." I whispered. Chase and Kyan wanted to help in the mess hall. "You 2 can do it." I told them. Parker was more interested in getting to know their new AEPs.

Even that could be useful for us. I then turned to Nicoletta. She scowled and said "There's something that doesn't feel right about this place. I know it." I rolled my eyes at that. It was a meaningless statement to make. There were criminals and cyborgs all around. Of course it would feel off to her. "Fine. Everyone needs a reconnaissance member. I bet we will have about 3 days before they move either way. Maybe you can find something out by talking to the humans living here." I said. She gave me a displeased look. Nicoletta saw me roll my eyes. "That is what I will be doing." It was soon after that that we rejoined the tour guides. They showed us their clan building. It was the main outpost where the supplies came in to be processed before being sent where they needed to go. I knew better than to ask about their transmission hub. It would just piss them off and make them less trustful of our intentions. We were brought to the place we would be sleeping. It was a very large tent with men, women and children already inside. The beds were not next to each other. We would work it out.

Death and decay washed over me like a wave when I stepped inside the infirmary the next morning. I knew this was a compound in the middle of hostile territory filled up with scum and those with nowhere else to go, but this was too much. They had a lack of medical supplies. It also did not help when mechanical monsters were constant threats that often wounded those that went out to fight or guard against them. I really was a godsend. Using my magic, I was able to heal quite a few of them back from the brink of death. I also was able to heal several of the diseased members. When people asked how I was able to do this, I told them how. I was a holy paladin sent here by the God of the Sky. If they believed, they might also one day be able to do great things as well. This was a great first day. I spent the rest of the day there until it was time for the medical staff to take their lunch. That was when a small fight broke out. Kyan was extremely angry at a man who was trying to steal food and hoard it. If I was not there, it could have turned nasty. I placed a Zone of Truth. He admitted it all.
