Due to the subclass, I could store magical energy within myself to later empower my damaging spells. In its stored form, this energy is called a power surge. That ability allowed me to add damage equal to half of my wizard class levels. I was not multi-classing on this character. Every single level went into the class. I had devoured 12 mortal souls so far. Each one gave me 5 levels automatically. That did not even count all the exp. I got from feeding on humans and combat. With everything totaled up, I was level 68. That meant every power surge added 34 points of force damage to spells. It was a good thing to have in the back pocket. It would also get stronger with the new levels I would put in the class. All the monsters died. That was 6 dead. That went towards the quota. We were already 12% of the quest done with a single spell. It was impressive. I decided to let the others shine. All the other incubi on the field cast Steel Wind Strike. We each got a dagger from the garrison quartermaster. They all flourished their weapons and then vanished to strike monsters like the wind. It was amazing.

Choosing five creatures that they could see, the incubi made a vicious attack against each monster. On a hit, the target took 6d10 force damage. They also had power surges, although much less potent than mine. After the 5 strikes they could then teleport to an unoccupied space they could see within 5 feet of one of the targets they hit or missed. They killed all of their targets. 15 incubi killing 5 monsters each meant 75 monster corpses hit the ground. Adding my 6 made 81. In less than a minute, we had killed over 1.5 times our quota. We had to bring all our kills back to the garrison. Our credit for the quest would not count otherwise. That took us much longer than it took actually killing them. These monsters were all supposed to be level 15. The news in the city was all buzzing about it the next day. I thought that it was a pretty cool thing we did. We were called "monster hunters" and "clearers of the wilds". It did not change us at all. We were still dancing and entertaining people at The Wreck every single night. Everything was looking up for us. There was other important things in the city.

Walking over to Fertile Gardens Temple, I stepped inside and looked around. Jason and Owen called me in a panic the other day. Ezrinez, Lanartaran and Ohmath had all collapsed while everyone was doing their morning prayers earlier in the day. When they got them back to consciousness, they said that they had a dream where they had a conversation with Bilios. They did not want to tell anyone other than me what the conversation was actually about. It sounded urgent. This could either be really important or really stupid. Ezrinez, Lanartaran and Ohmath stopped what they were doing and rushed over to me. I was really surprised. Jason and Owen both looked on helplessly as the 3 incubi dragged me to the back rooms. Once we got to the room, I was pushed inside and the door was locked behind us. They looked really excited. I hoped that this was worth all the worry and hype. They scrambled over themselves in order to tell me what happened. They snarled and growled if one "stole" what they wanted to say. I sighed and let them get it all out. Since that was allowed, they kept going on.
