Sarah didn't know why she went behind the gym to meet up with Athena. At least, she didn't clearly know. It was partially because she was trying to convince herself she wasn't bigoted. But...Athena was really weird. And that was the other thing...Athena made her a bit nervous. She was sort of worried what she'd do if she didn't show up.
Athena was standing there. "Do you feel like something is missing, or wrong?" She asked. "Seriously..."
"Yeah...this conversation." Sarah said. "I mean...what exactly are you talking about?"
"The last few nights, I've felt like something was missing...something was wrong...but I can't figure out what. When I look at you...I see you with blond hair..."
Sarah frowned. She'd always had brown hair.
Athena grabbed Sarah's hand, placing something in the other teen's palm. Suddenly...Sarah felt...powerful, self-assured...and then the feeling faded. "You felt something?" Athena said.
Sarah blinked. "I...did. Weird..." she looked at Athena. "What was it?"
"I don't know," Athena admitted.
Sarah opened her hand to see what was in it. It was some sort of blue and silver stone on a chain. "What is this?"
"It's how I realized something is wrong..."
"Magic?"
Athena gave her a look. "Meditation," she said.
"I thought you were into magic and the occult and stuff."
"Yes, but magic isn't like Harry Potter...It's just....tapping into energy that's around us," Athena said.
"What about spells and potions and....?"
"It helps us focus. and words have power..."
Sarah looked confused. Athena didn't sound as freaky as she always seemed. "Why are you telling me this then?"
Athena looked at her. "Because you seem off...that other girl from this morning seems off...something is seriously wrong here."
"But what?"
"Your aura looks like it is changing. That usually only happens if you've had major trauma or something...really life changing..."
"My aura?"
"The energy around you."
"And why are you telling me this?"
"I don't know that either...it just feels like...you are the person I'm supposed to tell...for some reason. And...you felt something?"
Sarah was torn again. It was harder to believe Athena was just a freak. Athena seemed to be laying her cards on the table. Whatever her weird hobbies were, they were giving her the sense something was off. "But...how did you do that?"
"Pressure point in the hand, the stone is a focus object...I tried it with one of my other friends, and...it triggered nothing. But with you it did."
"Can you do it again?" Sarah asked.
"Maybe...but I can teach you..."
